Moon Camp Explorers Gallery 2020-2021
In Moon Camp Explorers each team’s mission is to 3D design a complete Moon Camp using Tinkercad. They also have to explain how they will use local resources, protect astronauts from the dangerous of space and describe the living and working facilities.

Project description
The space station designed by our team is a medium-sized space station that can support between 2 and 7 trained astronauts, who can handle in case of danger. Our station is equipped with: main room, offices, bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, relaxation room, room where food is grown, greenhouse, missile take-off place, soil research machine. New astronauts are expected in the main room, and at the office, they work every day, in the bedroom they can rest, and in the relaxation room they can have fun because it is equipped with mechanical games. At the office, astronauts have high-performance laptops to connect, communicate, work and collaborate with people on Earth. The station contains a room with a recycling compactor and two large boilers, where the ice is transformed into water, which in turn, the water is purified so that it can be drunk. If they are hungry, astronauts can go to the kitchen and eat compactly to regain their energy. Our monthly camp is built to protect astronauts from radiation and meteorites. It produces enough energy and can ensure the production of food, heat and drinking water for a long time. |

Where do you want to build your Moon Camp?
Close to the Lunar Equator Why did you choose this location?
The lunar camp will be built near the Lunar Equator. We chose this location because we wanted to protect our astronauts from the cold. The Lunar Equator is not a cool place. If our astronauts lived in a cold place, they could not do their job as well as in a warmer place. At the same time I chose this place because the light is much stronger than in other parts of the Moon and they can see better. The Lunar Equator provides light and heat to astronauts and the space station, much more than other lunar regions. How do you plan to build your Moon Camp? Which materials would you use?
To build the Moon Camp, we intend to use all the resources provided by the Earth’s natural satellite. We will use the rocks on the moon to build the solid base of the camp, strong walls that will protect the astronauts. From the ferrous and non-ferrous resources we built the metal structure of the station. With the help of the loose soil I was able to dig lightly underground to build the underground camp. We will also use materials brought from Earth: wood for indoor furniture and we will disassemble the rocket to use the iron in the station structure, then those who will come from Earth will come with a new rocket when the station is already built. Explain how your Moon Camp will provide the astronauts with:

Our astronauts procure their water with the help of ice melting and purification boilers, which they turn into water and then filter, and they can drink it without problems. |
In the specially arranged greenhouse, the astronauts cultivate their vegetables and fruits, so the vitamins and minerals necessary for the health of the people on the station are provided. |
The power of the astronauts is given by the bedroom and the relaxation room. |
Oxygen is not a problem due to the fact that there are oxygen filters in all the rooms. They purify the air. When not in the underground lunar camp, astronauts wear special suits that give them enough oxygen to survive. |
Describe a day on the Moon for one of your Moon Camp astronauts
Logbook: Hi, I’m astronaut Brian and my crew and I just landed safely on the moon. After landing, we entered the room specially designed for disinfecting astronauts. Here, newcomer astronauts can rest after a long rocket flight and get used to artificial gravity. After resting, we went down to the basement where the lunar station is built. We will stay in the underground camp for two years, during which time we will research the soil, the air, gravity, the relief of the Moon. Depending on our research, we will determine whether or not we can build a monthly base for ordinary people, with monthly hotels, permanent homes. We visited the workroom (astronauts’ office) which is equipped with many computers and electrical devices, but we could not work from the first day when we get here because we barely adjusted. We went to the kitchen where we served a delicious meal. There I found everything I needed: everything was arranged in order except that you could find all kinds of food. After I ate, I went to the bedroom and watched TV, it was very interesting. I heard about mechanical games. located a few rooms away and I wanted to “test” them. I liked it, especially since I won against the one called here “Master”. I went to see and the garden looked as if it had been cultivated by a real farmer. In the evening we were called to the relaxation room for the council: ni the program was said: -in the morning, after breakfast, we start working until noon: field research, data collection -After lunch, we will take care of the garden -After we finish taking care of the garden we can relax in any way we want It doesn’t seem like a difficult program at all. Then I gave a party for the newcomers, it was funny. After the party I ended the evening with an invigorating shower and then went to bed. It was a wonderful day and I’m glad I got here safely! P.S .: Throughout my astronaut career I have worked on many space bases, but this seems extraordinary to me. |
