Moon Camp Explorers Gallery 2020-2021

In Moon Camp Explorers each team’s mission is to 3D design a complete Moon Camp using Tinkercad. They also have to explain how they will use local resources, protect astronauts from the dangerous of space and describe the living and working facilities.

Project description

We named our lunar camp as beta because we think nothing is perfect and everything is open to improvement. Rocket our beautiful country we have put Turkey’s name. We named our team beta because we think we can improve ourselves more. We plan to host 10 astronauts in our camp every year. We plan to complete the construction of our camp within 2 years by sending 2 rockets to the moon every month. We want to study earthquakes on the moon, life on the moon, the moon’s earth, and do other experiments.

We will build part of the camp underground to protect it from harmful rays and large temperature differences. In addition, we will detect the meteor beforehand, send missiles and break it into small pieces in order to protect it from meteorites that may fall into the camp, so there will be no great damage to the camp.

Where do you want to build your Moon Camp?

Close to the Lunar Poles

Why did you choose this location?

We want to build our camp near the south pole of the Moon because the temperature difference is less and there is water available when it melts in the craters at the south pole of the Moon.

How do you plan to build your Moon Camp? Which materials would you use?

First of all, we will build the aboveground part of the camp. Here, we generally plan to use durable metal materials and unbreakable durable glasses. We are planning to build the underground part of the camp about 100 meters below the ground. We plan to use explosives to speed up the digging process.

Explain how your Moon Camp will provide the astronauts with:
Water
Food
Electricity
Air

We will melt the ice on the moon and filter them into drinking water. We will also obtain water to be used in other works from waste water.

Some types of vegetables such as potatoes, tomatoes, cucumbers are grown in the month. We will bring the types of vegetables and dry foods that we cannot grow from the world.

We’ll build a small nuclear power plant and get most of the energy we need from there. The remaining part will be covered by solar panels.

We will make oxygen with water hydrolysis and we will mix water vapor into the air so that astronauts can breathe more easily. The fact that oxygen is not cut in an emergency is in the oxygen cylinders we have mentioned from the world.

Describe a day on the Moon for one of your Moon Camp astronauts

Our camp will follow the London time (UTC). General program of astronauts: Astronauts get up at 7:00 in the morning and astronauts have two hours to have their morning hygiene and breakfast. They hold their daily meetings between 9.00 am and 10.30 am and check if there is any malfunction in the camp. They do their experiments and work from 10.30 to 13.30, and they have lunch between 13.30 and 14.30. They continue to do their experiments and work between 14.30 and 19.00. They have dinner between 19.00 and 20.00. They do sports between 20.00 and 21.30. They are free between 21.30 and 22.00 hours. They go to bed at 22.00. They apply this program six days a week. They are
free on Sundays.
