Moon Camp Explorers Gallery 2020-2021

In Moon Camp Explorers each team’s mission is to 3D design a complete Moon Camp using Tinkercad. They also have to explain how they will use local resources, protect astronauts from the dangerous of space and describe the living and working facilities.

Project description

Our project has 2 bunk beds, a kitchen, one bathroom with a shower and a bath, one pantry, sixteen Space Suits and a dining room. It has stairs for the astronaut to go to the next floor and they have tubes to go from one site to another. It has a ventilation system that consists of: the trees produce oxygen and go up to the base.

Where do you want to build your Moon Camp?

Shackleton crater

Why did you choose this location?

Because it is the place where the base would be more protected and also, where it’s less cold during the nights. Also, our base will be more aesthetic because of it’s vault shape.

How do you plan to build your Moon Camp? Which materials would you use?

Gray concrete, armored glass, stainless steel, ceramics( for the bathroom), wood for the different things like beds and tables.

Explain how your Moon Camp will provide the astronauts with:
Water
Food
Electricity
Air

There are machines that extract water like petrole.

They send weekly provisions form the international space station.

As there is a lot of wind, we have aeolic systems for power providing.

In the greenhouse the trees provide all the oxygen needed. The crater gives them all the protection needed.

Describe a day on the Moon for one of your Moon Camp astronauts

A day on the moon for an astronaut would start by waking up from an 8-hour sleep, even though there isn’t a night or day, then they would go to the kitchen and get food reserves, like waffles, from the kitchen and go to the dining room. After eating, they would go to the bathroom and do all their necessities, but one thing they wouldn’t do every day is shower because they would do it every two days, and instead of getting under the water, like we do on Earth, they rub wet towels on themselves and then wash themselves with soap. Then they would go to the third floor to get into their clothes. After getting into their clothes they’d check on everything: the trees, the suits, the spaceship… After everything they’d have to follow the sleep schedule they have and go to sleep.
