Moon Camp Explorers Gallery 2021-2022

In Moon Camp Explorers each team’s mission is to 3D design a complete Moon Camp using Tinkercad. They also have to explain how they will use local resources, protect astronauts from the dangerous of space and describe the living and working facilities.

Project description

This lunar base has everything necessary for astronauts to have a pleasant stay on the Moon.  

The most important structure is the transparent dome of ultra-resistant glass, since in addition to protect us against possible impacts of meteorites or extra-terrestrial attacks, it is also responsible for retaining the oxygen generated by our genetically modified trees to produce oxygen as quickly as possible.  

In addition to that, we also have intelligent solar panels, which turn towards the sun, like sunflowers, to obtain the highest possible amount of energy.  

Using this energy, the ultraviolet lights in the greenhouse cause the plants to be exposed to light continuously, increasing the rate of food production.

Why did you choose this location?

Because it is warmer at the equator and as the moon takes 28 days (about 4 weeks) to go around itself, the sun will not be shining on it most of the time, so the best thing to do is to be in the place where it is warmest. 

How do you plan to build your Mooncamp? Which materials will you use?

We started making the project without any plans but finally we organized, and we shared the work, for example Tobias made the lab, Roberto did the solar panels and the sewage treatment plant, Ignacio also did some of the furniture, the greenhouse with lots of carrots and the most important thing, the rocket, Oscar did the car, furniture, and the capsule, and finally Manuel ordered everything inside Oscar’s capsule. 


In our big moon camp, we have a huge water treatment plant which is connected by pipes to the main structure to provide water for the astronauts.

We have the “Green House” that provide food for unlimited years if there are 7 or less astrounats. We can plant diverent types of food such as carrots (it’s the example), potatoes, fruit trees or even some tomates.

The solar panels built by Elon Musk himself have innovative technology. They are constantly searching for light, and to achieve this they use the new engines designed and assembled by Ford. Finally, the solar panels transform solar energy into electricity and transport it directly to the base.

Our oxygen generator does not rest, it is constantly producing oxygen.

Our best engineers have created a shield around the base to ensure safety and a comfortable stay on the moon. The shield is made of tempered glass with a thickness of 3 cm.

Describe a day on the Moon for one of your Moon Camp astronauts

The astronauts wake up soon in the morning. Then they have breakfast. For breakfast they have the only available food, carrots. After that they go to the laboratory to do some research on materials in the moon that can be used on different things. For example, new materials that are resistant to use in cars and other things.  

After some hours of research, they go to the greenhouse to cultivate some more carrots. Taking advantage of that they already are in the greenhouse they pick some carrots for lunch. After that they have lunch. For lunch they have, again, carrots.  

They continue with the research, but this time they don´t do lab research. Instead they explore the moon for food. When they return to the base, they go to sleep for around 9 hours.
