Moon Camp Explorers Gallery 2021-2022

In Moon Camp Explorers each team’s mission is to 3D design a complete Moon Camp using Tinkercad. They also have to explain how they will use local resources, protect astronauts from the dangerous of space and describe the living and working facilities.

Project description

We have discovered that there are some natural resources that the moon has to offer to us. Some examples include water, ice, lunar soil, and sunlight. We have lived here for just one day and soon to be two days, we found out that there is a chance to live on the moon as there are different facilities provided in our camp. Our camp is built on an area with a smooth surface surrounded by a series of natural resources that we have listed above. A portion of the establishments incorporated in our camp are two bedrooms which have two beds inside. We have one bathroom with multiple showers and toilet stalls. In addition, we have various offices with different purposes such as solar panel control, gravity control, maintenance, and ICT. Furthermore, we have a fully equipped kitchen. Over and beyond, we have a greenhouse full plants and seeds to get natural food. Lastly, we have a laundry room to keep the astronauts clothing and suits clean.

Where do you want to build your Moon Camp?

Close to the lunar equator

Why did you choose this location?

Our Moon Camp will be built near the lunar equator. We have decided that this location is the most beneficial for our moon camp because the area on the moon which recieves the most sunlight is the lunar equator. Sunlight is key to our moon camp since the power source we have chosen is solar energy. We have placed the solar panels in the middle of our camp therefore it can receive direct sunlight.

How do you plan to build your Mooncamp? Which materials will you use?

The materials we will use to construct our moon camp will include the following: Concrete, glass, plastic, and metal. By using concrete we can build the walls in all of the rooms, offices, and bathrooms.  The glass will be used for the mirrors placed in the bathroom, and for other objects we use daily. The recycling bins in our moon camp will be produced from recycled plastic. Lastly, the metal will be used for the rocket ship and the rocket ship’s landing pad.

We are capable of providing the astronauts with their daily supplies in order to keep their fitness, health, and nutrition high. We will provide the astronauts with water by distributing water dispensers all around the moon camp. As we have a greenhouse, they will be provided with healthy food, and there is also a stock of food located in the kitchen. In the camp we will generate power by the solar panels which will be monitored in the offices. They will be protected by the enormous layer surrounding the entire moon camp protecting them from asteroids and meteorites.

Describe a day on the Moon for one of your Moon Camp astronauts

A regular day on the moon would primarily experience the following events. The astronauts would wake up at 6:00 AM and perform their daily morning routines. Next, the astronauts would head to the kitchen or greenhouse depending on if the individual astronaut prefers vegetables or a snack. After the following, the astronauts would proceed to the offices using a rover. They would work for a while and rotate between offices to spend some time checking on the electricity and the solar panels. Afterwards they would go to the bathroom to shower. Later on, they would cook and eat some dinner and go back to their bedrooms and go to sleep, to have a long rest to prepare for the day ahead of them.  To summarize all of our information, our moon camp is complete and provides astronauts with all their needs to accomplish their tasks, discover new information, and have an experience of living outside of the earth’s atmosphere.
