Moon Camp Explorers Gallery 2021-2022

In Moon Camp Explorers each team’s mission is to 3D design a complete Moon Camp using Tinkercad. They also have to explain how they will use local resources, protect astronauts from the dangerous of space and describe the living and working facilities.

Project description

HELLO,

This is our Moon Camp called Space Travel. We built an orchard from which astronauts get food and check the fertility of the Moon’s surface. We also have solar cells that provide electricity for computers, moon rovers, robots etc. We took care of the cemetery that is built of rocks, as astronauts should be prepared for the worst. You can see a very tall building. This is an observatory. Astronauts can access the top by taking a lift. After observing, astronomers will analyse the data in the black building. As you can see we also designed a drone. Astronauts will be constantly connected with it to observe what is happening around them. We set up sleeping and dining areas that are linked by a tunnel. We designed a space shuttle to travel back to the Earth.

Where do you want to build your Moon Camp?

On the far side of the Moon

Why did you choose this location?

We chose this location because we designed an observatory with a huge telescope. The far side of the moon does not receive any background ”noise” from the Earth so the astronauts could observe the universe clearly.

How do you plan to build your Mooncamp? Which materials will you use?

We would use lunar rocks to build our Moon base.

Water
Food
Electricity
Air
Protection

Astronauts will use the ice that is hidden in cold and dark craters on the far side of the Moon. They will have to change the ice into liquid water.

We built an orchard from which astronauts get food.

We have solar cells that provide electricity for computers, moon rovers, robots etc.

As you can see we set up sleeping and dining areas that are linked by tunnels. That means that astronauts won’t be exposed to the extreme temperatures.

Describe a day on the Moon for one of your Moon Camp astronauts

Astronauts will sleep, eat and spend their free time in the domes. They will spend most of the time inside the observatory where they will observe the sky. After they will analyse the data in their office inside the black building.
