Moon Camp Explorers Gallery 2021-2022

In Moon Camp Explorers each team’s mission is to 3D design a complete Moon Camp using Tinkercad. They also have to explain how they will use local resources, protect astronauts from the dangerous of space and describe the living and working facilities.

Project description

It has 7 areas that astronauts can visit at any time, being in the middle communications (which acts as a center), to the east we have the greenhouse and below the warehouse, to the south we have the nursing and the bedrooms and nearby is a dome that only it has a double door leading outside and to the west we have the science area. In each area there will be stoves to provide warmth for the astronauts. Outside there are solar panels connected to batteries to store energy, a rocket and machines to collect oxygen from the greenhouse and store it in tanks.

Why did you choose this location?

Because it provides us with a constant amount of sunlight that we will use to store energy through solar panels to supply electricity to our base.

How do you plan to build your Mooncamp? Which materials will you use?

First they would place the bases and then the foundations, they place sheets and in this way they manage to make the domes, they repeat the procedure and thus they make the vaults that connect the domes, they place the solar panels and connect them to batteries, they put the machines to collect oxygen and They connect them to tanks and finally they put the materials from that section into the domes.

 

Steel bars and sheets of polymer reinforced with carbon fiber (it is thermal insulation, protects from solar radiation and is resistant.)

Describe a day on the Moon for one of your Moon Camp astronauts

I start the day leaving the bedroom to go get a medical check-up in the nursing with the rest of the team, then we all go to communications to receive our tasks, today I have to go to the greenhouse with a colleague, I pick up the harvest and He went back to plant the crops, then I took the harvest to the warehouse and counted our supplies. When I was done, I put on my space suit and went outside to clean the solar panels and check that there were no faults in the batteries. And my last task for the day was to do a little expedition with a partner around the southern hemisphere of the moon.
