Moon Camp Explorers Gallery 2021-2022

In Moon Camp Explorers each team’s mission is to 3D design a complete Moon Camp using Tinkercad. They also have to explain how they will use local resources, protect astronauts from the dangerous of space and describe the living and working facilities.

Project description

We recycle energy which means we have a lot of energy. We are gonna use solar energy and when there is no sun, we use the energy we stored. We are going to use the water from the south pole and recycle the water. Like that we are going to have water for all the time we want. But, we are also going to have a machine that gets the water from the soil and with a tube gets it to our home. We are gonna have oxygen doors which means doors that don’t let the air pass outside the house. We are going to make 3D printed meat with plants, like that we will also have meat. For the energy, we are going to  have 4 big solar panels, and with some distance, so they can get enough sun for energy. The house will be able to keep 5 people, so if we have more than 1 house, the crew will be bigger.

Where do you want to build your Moon Camp?

Close to the lunar poles

Why did you choose this location?

We are going to build the house in the South pole, because there is 600 billion kiloliters of water. Another reason why we are going to build it on the South Pole is because there is more sun than on the North Pole. And the last reason is because the South Pole faces the Earth more often.

How do you plan to build your Mooncamp? Which materials will you use?

We are going to use Graphene and Titanium for the following reasons: Graphene is the strongest material, is really thick, while Titanium has the ability of surviving high temperatures, and is of course really strong.

Water
Food
Electricity
Air
Protection

We will recycle water from pee and we will use water from the South Pole. Like that we will have 2 ways to get water, and there will be more water to use. The water will go through a filter to know if the water is clean to drink. If the water is not clean it is a risk the astronauts don’t want to take. Water must be clean.

For the fruits and vegetables, we will use our greenhouse. We will use cultured meat, and also we will grow sunflowers. We will make porridge.

We will use the Solar Panels to have energy and we will store some in the battery. So, when you cannot see the sun, we will use them. Batteries are going to have 200 thousand watts. 200 thousand watts can last for108 hours.

We will use plants and trees, and be sure they grow well. We will use tubes to connect the air of the greenhouse to the home. The oxygen doors are going to keep the air of the house in it.

For the meteorites, we will have some sensors to detect if something is coming, so when that happens, there will be rockets to destroy them. If the rockets don’t work, we will use light speed which was measured by Ole Roemer. For the house, we will use the Graphene and the Titanium to protect it.

Describe a day on the Moon for one of your Moon Camp astronauts

It’s a normal day like all others. They wake up and wash their teeth in the bathroom, and after going downstairs floating to the kitchen to eat breakfast. After breakfast, they would go to the gym and exercise hard for 3 hours. After, they would go to the living room to watch t.v, and then they would work on scientific projects. After that, they would eat Dinner, and finally go to bed.
