Moon Camp Explorers Gallery 2021-2022

In Moon Camp Explorers each team’s mission is to 3D design a complete Moon Camp using Tinkercad. They also have to explain how they will use local resources, protect astronauts from the dangerous of space and describe the living and working facilities.

Project description

We plan to send a crew who can replant life on the moon so that maybe we can live there. We think we should have plants on our base like salad, tomatoes and carrots.

Where do you want to build your Moon Camp?
Close to the lunar poles
Why did you choose this location?

We’re planning to live near the poles because we’re using solar energy to power our camp. We have a greenhouse, water tanks, experiment tower, battery station, bedroom, air storage and a rocket station. We separate them (not all together).

How do you plan to build your Mooncamp? Which materials will you use?

We bring some materials and 3D-print the rest.


Water, we took water tanks from earth and used gravity to put them in place and then screw them to the moon so they don’t float away. Then if the water tanks are empty we have some machines that can take up regolith and then warm it up. When it is warm enough the water will become steam, the machine picks up the steam and separates the water from the dangerous gas. After that we cool down the steam so that it becomes healthy water.

Food, we took food with us from the earth and when it’s running out, we built a greenhouse so we can grow vegetables and fruit.

We can supply electricity with solar energy because we can supply electricity using solar cells. There is a house which has energy and can separate steam from heated gravel. The energy comes from solar panels that we put up on the roof.

There is actually a separate tank with chemical made air that we can refill our suit tanks with. We don’t have another plan if it doesn’t work.

We think we would make a bunker in the moon. And we think that there would be a dome like a garage but there would be the houses and an experiment room and more. We use Polyethylene to protect us from meteorites and solar radiation.

Describe a day on the Moon for one of your Moon Camp astronauts

Morning / Lunchtime – A morning at the moon should be just like a morning on earth. They start the day with breakfast of course, but after that they control a machine that can supply electricity from the sun about how much energy it has picked up. After they control the machine they go to work in the garden. There they pick up vegetables and make food out of it and then go to the gym. At the gym they exercise so they can survive on the moon.
