Moon Camp Explorers Gallery 2021-2022

In Moon Camp Explorers each team’s mission is to 3D design a complete Moon Camp using Tinkercad. They also have to explain how they will use local resources, protect astronauts from the dangerous of space and describe the living and working facilities.

Project description Our lunar colony will be located in Shackleton Crater. It will be underground and have a place to grow plants, to produce oxygen and a place to recycle water on a daily basis. We will build several houses with different functions like a gym, a dining hall and a laboratory. The greenhouse will be placed on the moon surface because plants can not grow without sunlight.
Where do you want to build your Moon Camp? Shackleton crater Why did you choose this location? We choose this location because it has constant day light but also some shadow, which makes it easier to power our camp with solar energy. How do you plan to build your Mooncamp? Which materials will you use? We will use a robot to make glass and bricks out of regolith, the lunar soil.
Water	Food	Electricity	Air	Protection
Each person needs 2 litres of water per day on average. As so, we will bring some water from Earth and get some water from regolith. This water will be filtered to be reused.	We will food like carrots, tomatoes and vegetables from Earth, and also produce it in the greenhouse.	We will use solar panels to obtain energy and an electrical network to transport it.	The plants inside the greenhouse will produce oxygen that will be trapped inside the dome. We will also bring some breathable air from Earth.	Our camp has a large and strong dome to protect us from meteorites and radiation.
Describe a day on the Moon for one of your Moon Camp astronauts We wake up and put up our astronaut suits. We eat vegetables and drink water, we will probably go to the pool to do some exercise. Then we will explore the moon. Back home, we will harvest some vegetables and have dinner. After we finish, we got to sleep.
