Moon Camp Explorers Gallery 2021-2022

In Moon Camp Explorers each team’s mission is to 3D design a complete Moon Camp using Tinkercad. They also have to explain how they will use local resources, protect astronauts from the dangerous of space and describe the living and working facilities.

Project description

We decided to make some rooms for a moon camp made out of different small rooms or districts, including a laboratory, a greenhouse, and a storehouse. We unfortunately forgot to create some bedrooms, but for the time we had, we did the best we could.

Where do you want to build your Moon Camp?

Close to the lunar poles

Why did you choose this location?

We chose it because of easy solar access, and if we were to include solar panels as one of our energy sources, which we would have done if we had more time, it has almost a permanent energy source.

How do you plan to build your Mooncamp? Which materials will you use?

We plan on using metals, like iron or steel, glass for windows and some alloy of metals to make them stronger.

Water
Food
Electricity
Air
Protection

The water goes through tubes under the ground that goes through filters and everytime water goes through the toilet, sink…It goes to filters on the tubes and they go again to the houses or other buildings. Obviously, eventually we’d get some refresh from earth.

The food is going to come from the earth every year. They come in boxes and they are kept in a storehouse during all the year. There is also a greenhouse to test whether and which plants can be grown in the moon.

The electricity comes from solar panels that connect to cables that goes around the camp

The camp is going to have tubes with oxygen to travel from one room to another. If you go out you need to wear a helmet with oxygen and when you enter back you need to pass through a disinfection stage. The oxygen will mostly come from the greenhouse, since plants create oxygen.

For the protection all the camp is going to be constructed with a very resistant material and if a meteorite comes there is going to be a cannon that destroys it. There is always a person that controls if a meteorite comes.

Describe a day on the Moon for one of your Moon Camp astronauts

First the astronauts wake up from their beds, and go to the greenhouse/storehouse to get some vegetables to eat. Then they explore the area and get some sample rocks from the moon’s surface and get them to the laboratory. They contact the earth and tell them about their exploration. They eat a healthy but short meal, and go to their rooms to chill for a while. They study their surroundings, take some pictures from the earth and then, after studying them, go back to bed.
