Moon Camp Explorers Gallery 2021-2022

In Moon Camp Explorers each team’s mission is to 3D design a complete Moon Camp using Tinkercad. They also have to explain how they will use local resources, protect astronauts from the dangerous of space and describe the living and working facilities.

Project description

Our camp, moon camp Montsechia Vidalii, is called that because it’s the first ever flower that bloomed, so it is sort of like our camp because our camp is going to be the first! Its then going to grow and make more and more and more. We are going to have 5 astronauts in camp, A major, a leader, then the others. The Archaeologist, astronomer, an experienced doctor, of course our commander(major) and a skilled lab scientist . We have a greenhouse for studying how plants grow on the moon , we also have a room for studying stars with a telescope , a rover house (a moon buggy) , storage for keeping spare things like air and parts for the rover , O2 air and gas , sleeping domes , a meeting room and of course labs for research and communication with Earth.

Where do you want to build your Moon Camp?

Lunar lava tubes

Why did you choose this location?

We chose this location as you have some protection from the moons comets and meteorites as well as it having a close to warm temperature. Though our one would be found between lunar mares and highland regions, this would give ready access to: elevated regions, for communications; basaltic plains, for landing sites and regolith harvesting; and underground mineral resources. So in our opinion the Lunar Lava Tubes would be the greatest found location for the camp.

How do you plan to build your Mooncamp? Which materials will you use?

We will use Titanium to line the lava tube and add extra protection. We will build with titanium and other strong metals. We will use polycarbonate for our aquarium and green house as it is very strong, durable and easy to use.

Water
Food
Electricity
Air
Protection

To start with we’d bring a gallon and a half for our secondary source of water which is filtering our urine to create edible water. Though our primary source of water would be large pieces of lunar ice under the surface. We’d take it to a melting and disinfectant station to again filter it to make ordinary drinking water.

If the astronauts wanted/needed a protein infused meal then would go to our infinite source of fish in our awfully large tank but in drastic measures or in need of nutrition the astronauts would have access to a green house including tomatoes and tomatoes which to our surprise are said to grow on the moon.

Currently the electricity only has one source of power using solar panels working 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, powering all of our rooms, connected by many thick and extended wires. In the future when it’s built there should be over 250 solar panels and hopefully it shouldn’t be so expensive.

We will take oxygen with us and then we will use the oxygen from our green house plants and trees.

Our protection will come from the materials we will use to build our camp. Titanium and other strong metals. And it will be protected because it will be in a lava tube.

Describe a day on the Moon for one of your Moon Camp astronauts

6:00 breakfast  /begin day/

7:30 check on marine life

8:00 exercise (running 2 hours)

10:00 nap ( till 12:00)

12:00 lunch

1:00 go to the green house and check and water the thriving plants

2:00 go to storage and put away rusting equipment

3:00 walk to the office contact earth and update them on are amazing lunar research

4:30 check on the astronauts in the laboratory

5:00 have are mental and internal check up[2 hours] [45 minutes free time]

7:45 prepare and have dinner

9:00 get ready for bed

9:45 meet with astronauts
