Moon Camp Explorers Gallery 2021-2022

In Moon Camp Explorers each team’s mission is to 3D design a complete Moon Camp using Tinkercad. They also have to explain how they will use local resources, protect astronauts from the dangerous of space and describe the living and working facilities.

Project description

Our moon base is built in a crater on the moon, with a shield built from moondust and metal that can open and close to protect it from asteroids. There are living spaces and lots of kitchens for different dietary needs, such as nut allergies or different religions.

Where do you want to build your Moon Camp?

Close to the lunar poles

Why did you choose this location?

Because the sun is always there, and when it isn’t there we have lights! Plus, the people on earth know our location. And, the location is just very fun 🙂

How do you plan to build your Mooncamp? Which materials will you use?

We will use the moon dust, the metal stuff to keep it strong, the materials that would help it be safe from asteroids and other materials to help it be and actual base!

Water
Food
Electricity
Air
Protection

Because the mine we are making has a digger that will mine the water, then it goes into the digger that will melt it, causing it to drip into a big water tank! (there are a lot of these diggers around, so we won’t run out!)

we have greenhouses that when there is no sun, there are lights that are on a timer so it turns on and off when needed. But, there are blinds that can cover the roof of the greenhouse so when it is too sunny the plants still have shelter. Plus, there are timed sprinklers that turn on and off when needed.

we have a lot of solar panels that collect sun and turn it into power, but there are also mini vehicles that go to the emergency power supply, where the solar panels make power and just stores it instead of using it immediately.

we have a large oxygen tank that we refill every visit, but the tank is massive, bigger than a room

Moondust is so thick that it stops it coming through. Furthermore, we put a layer of moondust, then a layer of metal, etc. Also there is a dome of metal and moon dust that goes over the top of the buildings that can cover them if there is an asteroid attack, and can subtract if it isn’t needed! It is also in a crater

Describe a day on the Moon for one of your Moon Camp astronauts

The sun would be still shining, the computers are working, and the food is not scarce. All was well, and the animals were almost as tranquil as the atmosphere. If the digger stopped working, then there would be a power supply to support it. If there was no water to supply, we could go on the transport cars, or gondolas to activate it! If an asteroid attack came, the roof would come up and everyone would go to the safe room underground!
