Moon Camp Explorers Gallery 2021-2022

In Moon Camp Explorers each team’s mission is to 3D design a complete Moon Camp using Tinkercad. They also have to explain how they will use local resources, protect astronauts from the dangerous of space and describe the living and working facilities.

Project description

Our space camp was designed to accommodate 2 astronauts. Biomimicry was used in the design. Inspired by bees and honeycombs. There is a center in our camp. Depending on the center; There are greenhouse, observatory, research center and laboratory, dining room, toilet, infirmary, recreation room, gym, hobby room and water storage room. Agriculture will be carried out by growing plants in the greenhouse in the camp. At the research center, the lunar soil and the structure of the Moon will be examined. The ceiling of the observatory is designed in a collapsible manner. The energy needs of the camp will be met by the solar panels in the Moon camp, which change direction according to the angle of incidence of the sun’s rays. The radar in the camp will scan the sky 360 degrees and protect the camp from meteorites. Special paint was used outside the building to protect the astronauts from radiation.

Where do you want to build your Moon Camp?

Dark side of the moon.

Why did you choose this location?

We want to built our camp on the dark side of the moon. We chose this region because of the limited number of space researches on the dark side of the moon.

How do you plan to build your Mooncamp? Which materials will you use?

We aimed to make a center where astronauts can do research and have rest areas. We used special paint in our building to protect the astronauts from radiation. We preferred to use materials that are resistant to meteorites in the construction of the building.

Water
Food
Electricity
Air
Protection

It is planned to produce clean water by using the urine of astronauts in the research center. In addition, Rover will make a research on water on the Moon.

It will be provided from vegetables and fruits grown in the greenhouse. Food packages brought from the world are also available at the camp.

The energy needs of the camp will be produced from solar panels.

In the research center, water will be separated into hydrogen and oxygen by electrolysis method.

The radar in the camp will scan the sky 360 degrees and protect the camp from meteorites. Special paint was used outside the building to protect the astronauts from radiation.

Describe a day on the Moon for one of your Moon Camp astronauts

They start the day in the rest room. They’re having breakfast in the dining room. They go to the greenhouse to examine the plants. They go to the research center to study data from Rover. They meet with other astronauts to make an end-of-day assessment. After having their dinner, they go to the observatory to examine the space objects. They do sports to be healthy. They go to his room to rest.
