Moon Camp Explorers Gallery 2021-2022

In Moon Camp Explorers each team’s mission is to 3D design a complete Moon Camp using Tinkercad. They also have to explain how they will use local resources, protect astronauts from the dangerous of space and describe the living and working facilities.

Project description

This is our moon camp project.Humans have been venturing into space for over 60 years. The era of space travel officially began October 4, 1957, when the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (U.S.S.R.) , or Soviet Union, launched Sputnik. It was the first human-made satellite launched into orbit Earth. At 02:56 GMT on 21 July 1969, American astronaut Neil Armstrong became the first person to walk on the Moon. He stepped out of the Apollo 11 lunar module and onto the Moon’s surface, in an area called the ‘Sea of Tranquility. ‘

Where do you want to build your Moon Camp?

Close to the lunar equator

Why did you choose this location?

For historical reason.

How do you plan to build your Mooncamp? Which materials will you use?

With the material found on the Moon (Regolith)

Water
Food
Electricity
Air
Protection

To recycle water we are going to separate the water and the nytrogène present in the urine, then we will purify, disinfect and add some mineral salts to be able to drink it.

We will build a greenhouse ( with UV light lamps ) and put some plants in it to have oxygène and food

We will have solar panel to supply the moon camp with power

The plants will recycle oxygen using the photosynthesis

The moon camp will be underneath the surface of the Moon so the camp will be protected.

Describe a day on the Moon for one of your Moon Camp astronauts

The Moon camp astronauts will wake up and after having his breakast, will start his day between the greenhouse to make sure the plants are correctly watered and the laboratory to work of some experiment with small gravity (such as we are doing on the ISS or observe the stars – no light polution and no atmosphere).
