Moon Camp Explorers Gallery 2021-2022

In Moon Camp Explorers each team’s mission is to 3D design a complete Moon Camp using Tinkercad. They also have to explain how they will use local resources, protect astronauts from the dangerous of space and describe the living and working facilities.

Project description

Our project is meant to create a place where we can assure the wellbeing of two astronauts, with wellbeing we refer to their basic necessities (water, food, power, air, protection) and in which ways we can keep them stable on order for them to never run out of those needs.

Where do you want to build your Moon Camp?

Close to the lunar poles

Why did you choose this location?

Close to the south lunar pole, this is because the recent investigations may have confirmed the existence of frozen water in that zone, the reason, apart from the north pole of the moon the south pole keeps a big difference and is that this pole spends more time in the shadows.

How do you plan to build your Mooncamp? Which materials will you use?

Now a day some of the preferred materials are titanium aluminum and magnesium due to its light properties but it has a high cost

Water
Food
Electricity
Air
Protection

the place I pretend to set up the moon camp it’s supposed to have frozen water in it due to recent investigations, I expect it to last long enough for our astronauts

dehydrated food is a good way of delivering food to those places in space and keep it relatively fresh for long periods of time and in order to give more character to the food we us liquid condiments like ketchup, mayonnaise, salt and pepper

solar panels should power up the entire camp for a long time, despite the fact the moon camp is located in a place where almost all the time is covered by shadow, each moment the sunlight appears the solar panels take every second of that time in order to optimize energy duration until next day of sunlight

there is going to be a greenhouse on the principal base and on the astronaut’s rooms, we expect that this is a functional environment, but in any case of failure there would be many oxygen tanks for the astronauts to use

the astronaut rooms will be builder inside moon soil making a fake hill in the environment, it is designed so it helps regulating temperature inside the refuge, in case of being too cold or hot there is going to be acclimatizers inside, another thing to clarify is that the place where the ship lands is retractile preventing it to suffer damage from outer dangers

Describe a day on the Moon for one of your Moon Camp astronauts
  1. Our beloved astronaut begins his day checking the progress of the crop at the greenhouse and the levels of oxygen inside the room followed by a hot cup or coffee, well if he could drink coffee like on earth. Now he must prepare to go out and enter the facility. Same routine check the greenhouse and oxygen, the most important part is next, check recent messages from earth and reply with the daily report this report must include progress of the crops and vegetation, oxygen levels, status of the facility, power source status and new phenomena has happened near the camp, for example: any asteroid had fallen recently? how far from the base?. After communicating with earth our astronaut has to go out once again and enter the garage, take a vehicle and begin exploring the place searching for new and interesting things
