Moon Camp Explorers Gallery 2019-2020

In Moon Camp Explorers each team’s mission is to 3D design a complete Moon Camp using Tinkercad. They also have to explain how they will use local resources, protect astronauts from the dangerous of space and describe the living and working facilities.

Project description

Welcome to our Lunar Space Station. I’m Hantong Wang, leader of the Diamond Sword team. Our chosen location on the moon is the lunar pole at the magma pipeline. Outside of the Lunar Space Station, there are a plant greenhouse and a lunar rover. Inside the Lunar Space Station, there are elevator, laboratory, signal room, bedroom, dining room, gym, toilet, water room and so on. The various facilities in the lunar space station are very suitable for living on the moon.

Where do you want to build your Moon Camp?

Close to the Lunar Poles

Why did you choose this location?

There are three reasons why I choose the moon’s pole. The first is that the temperature of the moon’s pole is very suitable for human to live on the moon. The second is that the moon’s poles are full of sunlight. The third is that there is enough ice at the moon’s poles to solve water problems.

Water
Food
Electricity
Air

We solve water problems by digging up ice and recycling water.

We grow vegetables for our food supply.

We use solar panels to provide electricity.

We use electrolytes and lunar soil to generate oxygen.

How do you plan to build your Moon Camp? Which materials would you use?

We need a temporary shelter inside the ship that can be used for a few months. We will use space robots to build our moon camp. The material we use is compressed plastic.

The Moon environment is very dangerous for the astronauts. Explain how your Moon Camp will protect them.

We use compressed plastic to keep astronauts safe in the moon camp. Outer space suits are needed to protect the astronauts.

Describe a day on the Moon for one of your Moon Camp astronauts

Get up in the morning, wash up, have breakfast, rest for a while after the beginning of the spacesuit survey, a few minutes later back to the moon camp, send a vehicle survey. Lunch at noon, to the laboratory research results, halfway out again to explore. Have dinner at night and report to the earth. Wash up and go to bed.
