Moon Camp Pioneers Gallery 2020-2021

In Moon Camp Pioneers each team’s mission is to 3D design a complete Moon Camp using Fusion 360. They also have to explain how they will use local resources, protect astronauts from the dangerous of space and describe the living and working facilities.

Project description

Let’s first select the right plot on the lunar surface and leave a basement for the astronauts to rest, play and exercise. Because the temperature difference underground is not that big. The surface is constructed in four semi-cylindrical structures for laboratory, pond farming of green algae, vegetable cultivation, flower green planting and storage room.   In the middle is a furnace that produces oxygen and hydrogen. Several buildings are connected to each other and work together.

Where do you want to build your Moon Camp?

Close to the pole of the moon

We decided to build our camp near the moon’s  south pole, next to a smaller crater, to extract water. At the same time, the temperature difference is small,  and there is a stable supply of sunlight, which will allow us to grow algae to survive in large quantities, providing oxygen.  Sunlight provide electricity and power to our base.

How do you plan to build your Moon Camp? Describe the techniques and materials you would use.

Our basements can be built with special materials , ponds and green space houses with high-material glass to protect against UV rays and other injuries.   3D printing technology is also required to print the required supplies.

The environment on the Moon is very dangerous for the astronauts. Explain how your Moon Camp will protect them.

We will cover the camp surface with a lead shell that prevents both radiation and asteroid impacts. Astronauts can wear radiation-resistant work clothes to work or use artificial intelligence to work outside the home.

Explain how your Moon Camp will provide the astronauts with:
Water
Food
Electricity
Air

Astronomers have discovered that a patch of frost is scattered around the moon’s North and South Poles. They can provide water for human visitors. Initially, we used these ice separations for human water sources, but due to the limited resources, later, we used rocket fuel as a raw material, catalyzing it to break down into nitrogen and hydrogen, and then leading the separated hydrogen to another place to burn it, thus generating water.

We mainly use potatoes as food, opening up a place to grow potatoes. Because zircon is very absorbent, it absorbs water evenly and distributes it around the roots of the plant. Therefore, we use zircon as the soil, human urine and feces as fertilizer, grow potatoes. Plant rape as a fuel guarantee.

The moon camp is powered by solar energy. We make retractable solar sails, work during the day, and put them away at night to prevent the temperature from freezing the instrument.

Algae are easy to grow and can reproduce in large quantities, so we use the method of raising algae in ponds to provide air.

Explain what would be the main purpose of your Moon Camp (for example: commercial, scientific, and/or tourist purposes).

The main purpose of the moon camp is to travel. Today, with the development of science and technology, the rapid development of society, the growing needs of the people for a better life can not be met, people’s curiosity is growing, hope to visit other planets. Therefore, we take tourism as the main purpose to meet people’s wishes.

Describe a day on the Moon for your Moon Camp astronaut crew.

After getting up early for dinner, check that the equipment is working properly to ensure the safety of the living environment. You can then go to the office area to handle the work at hand. Once you’re done, you can walk around and explore the mysteries of the moon while ensuring safety. You can go to the gym in the afternoon. After that, you can have some entertainment. Finally into the sweet dreamland.
