Moon Camp Pioneers Gallery 2020-2021
In Moon Camp Pioneers each team’s mission is to 3D design a complete Moon Camp using Fusion 360. They also have to explain how they will use local resources, protect astronauts from the dangerous of space and describe the living and working facilities.

Project description
Our camp on the moon will be used for scientific research. It can make a small number of astronauts survive on the moon. The camp includes living quarters – dormitories, dining halls, terminal rooms (for contact with the outside world) and so on. On the ground there are vegetable sheds to provide recyclable resources such as food and oxygen, and a nuclear power plant on the ground to provide energy. An elevator connects the aboveground and underground sections. The main dome on the ground is designed to protect against small meteorites. |

Where do you want to build your Moon Camp?
We want to build a lunar camp in a two-tier area. How do you plan to build your Moon Camp? Describe the techniques and materials you would use.
In the early stage, the shuttle was used to transport materials and the construction robots needed to build the shell and so on. The environment on the Moon is very dangerous for the astronauts. Explain how your Moon Camp will protect them.
First of all, the moon is in a vacuum environment, and it does not have the structure similar to the ozone layer to resist the ultraviolet rays and other cosmic rays. Therefore, the radiation proof material is necessary. We chose to fill the interlayer between the external structure and the internal structure to resist the threat of rays. Explain how your Moon Camp will provide the astronauts with:

Water

Food

Electricity

Air

Water is the source of life,so the supply of water is very important.Water-ice has been detected at the moon’s poles, which can be used directly to provide water.Plus, since there’s a lot of hydrogen in the lunar shell, we might be able to get water somehow. |
According to the research, about 2.5 kg of feeds to produce a kilo of meet, also this work needs much of energy, so for time being, keeping poultry is out of the question. Instead, we can carry packaged meat to provide the astronauts with a protein intake (or soy products for vegetable protein). |
Because of the construction of nuclear power plants, and because of the presence of hydrogen element, both of them can be considered as an energy substance to use.According to the survey, more than 700,000 tons of helium-3 are estimated to be on the moon, and it is known that 100 tons of helium-3 could generate enough energy to power the entire human race for about a year. |
In the past, Soviet spacecraft had carried pure oxygen and caused accidents, so we used the mixture of gases. |
Explain what would be the main purpose of your Moon Camp (for example: commercial, scientific, and/or tourist purposes).
The lunar camp was built mainly for scientific research purposes. |

Describe a day on the Moon for your Moon Camp astronaut crew.
The astronaut wakes up in the morning from the dormitory bed, washes up in the dormitory, then eat in the underground building. After that, they will discuss their agenda in a conference room or other place and upload it and make the data back to Earth. Then the astronaut can take the elevator to the surface to check and record the growth of vegetables. If there is a mission for going out, they can take the lunar rover out to survey the terrain, and bring samples back to the laboratory for analysis.Wait until the evening ,it`s time to rest, relax , exercise or do something you like. |
