In Moon Camp Pioneers each team’s mission is to 3D design a complete Moon Camp using Fusion 360. They also have to explain how they will use local resources, protect astronauts from the dangerous of space and describe the living and working facilities.

Project description

The main purpose of our lunar camp project is to build a lunar camp where the moon is convenient for human survival. The lunar camp project is mainly for people to visit the moon. Tourists from far away from the earth visit the strange scenery of the moon and learn about the life style of astronauts in the moon camp.

Where do you want to build your Moon Camp?

We want to build a lunar camp near a crater near the moon’s poles, but where the sun can shine. Because scientists now believe that there may be ice in the craters of the moon’s polar regions, we believe that we can use sunlight to melt the moon’s ice and obtain water, an essential component of life support. At the same time, we can also use the photolysis device similar to plant photosynthesis to photolysis water, so as to produce oxygen.

How do you plan to build your Moon Camp? Describe the techniques and materials you would use.

We use the pyramid structure, the overall use of transparent and high hardness of anti cosmic ray glass plate, to ensure adequate light. The pyramidal architecture clearly divides each area – apron, planting area, accommodation area, entertainment area, and effectively prevents accidents and disasters.

The environment on the Moon is very dangerous for the astronauts. Explain how your Moon Camp will protect them.

Transparent and high hardness anti cosmic ray glass plate is used to ensure sufficient light, and memory alloy is added into it to effectively repair accidental damage and reduce accidents.

Explain how your Moon Camp will provide the astronauts with:
Water
Food
Electricity
Air

At the beginning, water was brought from the earth. When the moon was stable, polar ice was collected by lunar rover, transported to the base, melted by the high temperature of the sun, and input into the base through purification measures. A small part uses hydrogen combustion to collect pure water.

At the beginning, it mainly transported food from the earth, and carried some crops that were easy to grow, such as potatoes and radishes, to try to grow on the moon. At the later stage, it mainly fed on the crops on the moon.

Solar silicon panels are used to collect solar energy to provide the main energy, and the collected water is used to obtain hydrogen by electrolysis, which is used as the raw material of hydrogen energy and a small part of energy.

Oxygen is produced by electrolyzing water and photolysis water, and forms respiratory cycle with photosynthesis of green plants.

Explain what would be the main purpose of your Moon Camp (for example: commercial, scientific, and/or tourist purposes).

The main purpose of our lunar camp is to study how to survive on the moon by using only a small amount of materials, such as space soilless cultivation, polar ice on the moon, solar energy and so on. Looking for a way for human beings to survive on the moon.

Describe a day on the Moon for your Moon Camp astronaut crew.

At the beginning of the day, the astronauts came out of the residential area and took the elevator to the planting area to observe whether the crops grew normally and record the growth status. After the crop observation, take the elevator to the top floor to check whether the spaceship is normal and whether there is any damage. After confirmation, go straight to the bottom floor through the outer slide and look into the distance to confirm that there is no accident around. After confirming that there is no error in and around the base, drive the lunar rover to the crater near the moon pole, collect polar ice and bring it back to the base to ensure sufficient water supply. At the end of the day, go back to the residential area to have a rest.
