Moon Camp Pioneers Gallery 2020-2021

In Moon Camp Pioneers each team’s mission is to 3D design a complete Moon Camp using Fusion 360. They also have to explain how they will use local resources, protect astronauts from the dangerous of space and describe the living and working facilities.

Project description

We’ve built lunar camps to help astronauts live on the moon, and we’ve built plant-growing rooms for food, and activity rooms for relaxation.

Where do you want to build your Moon Camp?

Near the Moon’s Poles (there is ice at the bottom of the poles, water is available, and the temperature range is suitable).

How do you plan to build your Moon Camp? Describe the techniques and materials you would use.

Using locally sourced lunar soil, the frame and shell were 3D-printed, and then the interlayer was filled with lunar soil.

The environment on the Moon is very dangerous for the astronauts. Explain how your Moon Camp will protect them.

Design thicker building shells and fill the interlayer with lunar soil to protect against cosmic rays, solar wind, and meteorite impacts. The building under the shelter, encounter damage to the building, the astronauts can enter the emergency refuge.

Explain how your Moon Camp will provide the astronauts with:
Water
Food
Electricity
Air

Carting basic water from Earth, it can be turned into ice by solar energy, or synthesized chemically from hydrogen and oxygen-containing minerals on the moon.

In the early stage, food was carried from the earth for maintenance, and then growing plants, such as potatoes, radishes, soybeans, tomatoes, etc. were cultivated in the base for convenient storage. Edible animals were raised to ensure a diversified and balanced food source.

The main development of lunar mineral resources and the establishment of nuclear power plants to obtain energy, secondly, the surface of the moon solar radiation intensity, can rely on solar energy to supplement energy.

Oxygen is obtained by electrolysis of water and stored in liquefaction. Because pure oxygen is so oxidizing that it can damage the lungs, nitrogen would have to be mixed for astronauts to use.

Explain what would be the main purpose of your Moon Camp (for example: commercial, scientific, and/or tourist purposes).

Mainly for science to develop the moon, and for the exploration of the universe to accumulate experience, if the technology is mature, can be appropriate to develop tourism.

Describe a day on the Moon for your Moon Camp astronaut crew.

Wake up at 6 a.m., exercise and eat a nutritious breakfast, follow a plan made overnight to keep the lunar base up and running, make some emergency preparations, and spend some time cleaning up.
Take an hour or so at noon to ensure the mental condition of the afternoon.
After checking the base in the evening, make a general plan for the next day. You can do some art activities in your spare time and go to bed before 9:30.
