Moon Camp Pioneers Gallery 2020-2021

In Moon Camp Pioneers each team’s mission is to 3D design a complete Moon Camp using Fusion 360. They also have to explain how they will use local resources, protect astronauts from the dangerous of space and describe the living and working facilities.

Project description

Generating enough energy through solar panels so astronauts can live a better life in the long run; At the same time, electricity can also come from the real support of the study of the moon, and the connection between the earth; To better discover and explore the moon through laboratory experiments;
Building a rest room to provide a good rest environment for the astronauts; The kitchen is used to cook food, and the refrigerator is used to refrigerate some research products and food for long-term preservation. A meeting room for discussions on lunar exploration; The rover will be able to travel on the lunar surface and complete complex tasks such as lunar exploration, investigation, collection and analysis of samples.

Where do you want to build your Moon Camp?

In a place where there is more sunlight, where the environment is not extreme, where there is ice. Because sufficient sunlight can provide energy for solar panels, plant growth and so on, the environment is not extreme conducive to the survival of astronauts, there is ice can provide a certain water source for astronauts and plants.

How do you plan to build your Moon Camp? Describe the techniques and materials you would use.

The “Petri Room” is the center, spreading around the “rest room”, “recreation room”, “studio” and “conference room”, and connected to the center by the passageway. Each room is roofed with a semicircular material that allows for sunlight and a better view of the surroundings; On the outside, there are “lunar rover” and “solar panel”, respectively, for exploring the lunar surface and providing energy;

The environment on the Moon is very dangerous for the astronauts. Explain how your Moon Camp will protect them.

Firstly, the external environment was analyzed through the computer in the studio to determine whether the external environment was suitable for astronauts to go out for research. Each astronaut is fitted with a spacesuit to protect him from radiation caused by working outside; Astronauts also take special drugs to reduce the damage to their bodies; In addition, the rover has an “accident first aid” mode to take astronauts back to the lunar camp in dangerous situations.

Explain how your Moon Camp will provide the astronauts with:
Water
Food
Electricity
Air

First, use hydrogen and oxygen batteries to make artificial water. If artificial water is not enough, use water brought from the earth.

Vegetables, fruits and other foods will be grown in a “culture room” at the lunar camp, as well as food brought from Earth.

It can carry low-mass, high-energy matter from Earth for energy use. Solar panels from the lunar camp can also be used to convert solar energy into energy for the use of the lunar camp. It could also explore the existence of alternative energy sources from the moon.

Oxygen can be obtained by electrolysis of water and other operations; By the burning of solid matter carried from the earth; It can also be used directly through the transport of oxygen.

Explain what would be the main purpose of your Moon Camp (for example: commercial, scientific, and/or tourist purposes).

The purpose of our exploration of the moon is to explore further into the universe from here. Besides, because knowledge of space is more convenient on the moon, we can put more instruments there and obtain more valuable data. What’s more, the moon remains pristine, tens or even hundreds of millions of years old, so studying moon rocks and geology is important for understanding the formation and evolution of the Earth.

Describe a day on the Moon for your Moon Camp astronaut crew.

Morning get up from the lounge, the astronaut must carry on the routine medical examination, mainly measuring your blood pressure and body temperature, weight, measurement, etc., and medical health care personnel calls, with the ground and then from the base camp “pure” pick some fruit and vegetables, go to the kitchen for cooking baking, after eating breakfast, in succession, the astronauts began to sleep the night duty. Then carry out research work and camp maintenance, and protection against physiological effects. At noon, go to the kitchen to heat things up briefly before eating them, and then go to the break room for a nap. Afternoon, via the lunar rover to exploration of the moon, at the same time contact with the laboratory through the establishment of astronauts, according to the instruction from the lab to get things on the surface of the moon, then back to the camp for more detailed research, through the meeting to discuss, to get the result of the experiment, after the transfer of some supplies and repair safety equipment. In the evening, there are sports exercises, space plant cultivation, typical maintenance operations in the passage and verification of man-machine cooperation, communication with the earth via video or email, and then a day of rest, personal hygiene, and then sleep.
