Moon Camp Pioneers Gallery 2020-2021

In Moon Camp Pioneers each team’s mission is to 3D design a complete Moon Camp using Fusion 360. They also have to explain how they will use local resources, protect astronauts from the dangerous of space and describe the living and working facilities.

Project description

With the increasing desire of human beings to explore the moon, it is necessary to establish a lunar camp on the moon for lunar research. Our lunar camp mainly consists of astronauts, research room, gym, culture room, heating drilling, lunar rover and living area. These are used for basic living needs of astronauts and basic facilities for scientific research and exploration.

Where do you want to build your Moon Camp?

We built our summer camp on the very low side of the moon. The proximity of the lunar poles to the sun allows us to generate electricity from the sun, and they contain ice that allows us to mine them for water. Depending on the topography of the lunar surface, shelters can be built in natural caves, canyons, or impact craters.

How do you plan to build your Moon Camp? Describe the techniques and materials you would use.

The lunar camp is composed of a closed circle of several hemispherical spheres, and energy is supplied by several solar panels around the lunar camp. Beside the solar energy, there is a radar, which can use lunar dust as a module that can be burned, crushed and compressed into a solid as the material for the construction of the lunar camp. The moon has radiation for astronauts, so the moon can be built inside the crater, and the outer part of the entire lunar camp can be built with a protective cover composed of titanium to reduce the damage of meteorites to the outer shell of the lunar camp. The titanium is extracted from the ore of the moon.

The environment on the Moon is very dangerous for the astronauts. Explain how your Moon Camp will protect them.

The moon will be bombarded by meteor showers from time to time, and a protective shield made of titanium could be built over the lunar camp. Moon dust, even in small amounts, can pose a serious health hazard to astronauts, causing severe respiratory and lung damage. The suit can be sprayed with water or compounds to neutralize the charge as the astronaut passes through the airlock, thus cleaning off the dust before entering the main habitat. Radiation from the moon was also a problem, and they could cover the settlement with a thick layer of lunar rock.

Explain how your Moon Camp will provide the astronauts with:
Water
Food
Electricity
Air

The water recycling system used on the International Space Station will help maintain water supply by sending a certain amount of water from Earth to the moon in a spacecraft to solve the current water shortage of astronauts. It recycles everything, producing recycled water cleaner than most of the water we drink on Earth, and can then be replenished with water ice drilled from electrically heated drills at the lunar poles.

First from the earth with spacecraft to transport certain food to the moon, and then set up a culture room on the moon, artificial light irradiation, so as to carry out vegetable cultivation and planting.

Use solar panels to absorb sunlight to generate electricity for power supply, light nuclear fusion inside solar energy to generate energy for energy supply.

Growing algae in a culture chamber on the moon can change the air we exhale into oxygen. Water electrolysis devices can also be used to decompress water into oxygen and hydrogen to supply oxygen. The soil of the moon contains oxygen, and the soil and ore can be extracted to obtain oxygen.

Explain what would be the main purpose of your Moon Camp (for example: commercial, scientific, and/or tourist purposes).

Our lunar camp is mainly used for scientific research. With the increasing progress of science and technology, human yearning for the moon has not stopped at the foot of the moon, our scientists have a strong interest in the composition of the moon, through the moon exploration, to obtain more valuable information, send information to the earth, so as to promote the progress of science and technology, so that we can better explore the universe.

Describe a day on the Moon for your Moon Camp astronaut crew.

Our astronauts morning after record their body function of each index, after a quick breakfast to go to the gym to exercise the body, and then go to the main control room to check the spacecraft to keep a record of each index is normal and then go to the pure observation of plant growth and record, then go to electric drilling test drilling work of ice to collect and transport. Astronauts put on spacesuits, at this time we go outside the camp for lunar exploration and ore collection, to get the rock and soil we need to get the lab, scientists in scientific research, and then we would have had a complete the end of the day, looking forward to the future for our country scientific research career for the risk of every day of every day… and the earth.
