Moon Camp Pioneers Gallery 2020-2021

In Moon Camp Pioneers each team’s mission is to 3D design a complete Moon Camp using Fusion 360. They also have to explain how they will use local resources, protect astronauts from the dangerous of space and describe the living and working facilities.

Project description

A major goal of our Moon Camp project is to build a lunar base at a possible site for scientists to simulate life at the lunar camp to see if they can survive long on the moon and conduct a series of scientific research on the moon.

Where do you want to build your Moon Camp?

I want to choose a place where the sun shines longer on the side of the moon facing the earth to build a lunar summer camp. This is not only conducive to communication with the earth, but also can maximize the use of sunlight to obtain energy.

How do you plan to build your Moon Camp? Describe the techniques and materials you would use.

I will use 3 D printing technology and radiation protection materials to build a closed lunar camp, which consists of five bases connected by channels. The four small bases are energy power tanks (including nuclear power generation, water and electricity separation devices, hydrogen reduction devices, air circulation devices, etc.), training modules, biological training modules and living modules, and the most central large space is used to build scientific experimental bases.Outside the base there are solar panels, lunar rover and so on.

The environment on the Moon is very dangerous for the astronauts. Explain how your Moon Camp will protect them.

My lunar camp will use lunar soil and rock and radiation-resistant materials to protect against cosmic rays; use high-intensity building materials to withstand the huge pressure difference inside and outside the camp; Let astronauts exercise in the artificial gravity training room in the lunar camp to resist the long-term low-gravity environment harm to the astronauts’.

Explain how your Moon Camp will provide the astronauts with:
Water
Food
Electricity
Air

Early from the earth, on the one hand, the recovery of water evaporated by astronauts and excreted urine, on the other hand, the use of lunar vehicles to find available solid water on the moon.

Early brought from the earth, later in the biological culture cabin will use LED lights to irradiateless wheat, lettuce, greasy wheat, and so on, and will raise sea cucumbers to provide protein for astronauts.

Solar panels are used to collect solar energy; lunar vehicles are used to collect helium resources on the moon for nuclear power generation; water and electricity are used to separate hydrogen from hydrogen as fuel.

Oxygen is extracted from lunar soil by hydrogen reduction device, oxygen is produced by photosynthesis of grain and vegetables, and carbon dioxide produced by astronauts and plants is used to improve photosynthesis to realize air recycling.

Explain what would be the main purpose of your Moon Camp (for example: commercial, scientific, and/or tourist purposes).

My main purpose of the Moon Camp is to establish a scientific research base on the moon to provide a scientific research site for scientists to explore new resources and carry out scientific experiments.

Describe a day on the Moon for your Moon Camp astronaut crew.

In the morning, astronauts wash in the living room and exercise in the training room. After eating, the astronauts went to the central scientific experimental base for experimental research, and then to the biological culture cabin for plant cultivation and sea cucumber feeding. In the afternoon, astronauts at the lunar base by remote control of the lunar rover on the moon to find available water, helium and other resources and lunar exploration. In the evening, astronauts go to the energy power module to inspect the device and return to the living room to wash and sleep.
