Moon Camp Pioneers Gallery 2020-2021

In Moon Camp Pioneers each team’s mission is to 3D design a complete Moon Camp using Fusion 360. They also have to explain how they will use local resources, protect astronauts from the dangerous of space and describe the living and working facilities.

Project description

One is to explore the moon’s resources, develop its soil, and build a habitable environment for human beings, as well as a pilot project for human beings to travel further into space

Where do you want to build your Moon Camp?

Near the lunar pole.Because the radiation from the sun is relatively less, the temperature is lower, suitable for human habitation. The most reliable source of solar energy on the moon is near the lunar poles. There are places near the lunar poles where the sun does not set, like the polar day on Earth.Building a base here, you don’t have to worry about energy. And they built solar panels, which are also an important way to get energy. And there is ice at the lunar poles, which can be used to provide water

How do you plan to build your Moon Camp? Describe the techniques and materials you would use.

Technology:Utilizing the latest technology, such as oxygen generators, new solar panels, atomic storage batteries, solar energy multifunctional lunar exploration vehicles, helium-3 separation factories, space elevators, etc.

Material: Using lunar dust as raw material to make bricks, lunar soil is combined with human urine, which is very practical, not only to avoid further complicating space’s complex water circulation system.Melt the lunar soil with focused sunlight to produce a flexible material that can be carved into a device.

Design: design multiple connecting pipes to achieve the interconnection of energy, water and air, underground can also be connected to multiple pipes for people to travel to another area

The environment on the Moon is very dangerous for the astronauts. Explain how your Moon Camp will protect them.

In addition to the lunar camp itself to provide food, clothing and shelter solutions, in the face of radiation, spacesuits first, the moon capsule can be stored in multiple spacesuits.Architecturally, a mezzanine in the base shield could be added with ozone to reduce the effects of radiation, regular Earth contact with the lunar camp and escape rockets as a last resort.Survival pods are kept off the ground to prevent some of the risks

Explain how your Moon Camp will provide the astronauts with:
Water
Food
Electricity
Air

Water ice is abundant at the South Pole of the moon, which can be consumed after being refined by a water processor, or the remaining water molecules can be collected and put to use by a water molecule collector. It can also be extracted from near-Earth asteroids, mainly by using sunlight or other radiation to vaporize water ice on the moon and on asteroids, and then collect it.

The earth comes with certain soil, seeds and decompressor. In the early stage, the transition depends on space food. In the later stage, we try to self-supply food through planting and use 3D printing technology to process food raw materials and then make food.Because raw materials can be easily transported to the moon and stored for a long time.

Solar panels collect the sun’s energy, while harvesting new sources of energy that can be exploited on the moon, such as the abundance of helium-3 in the lunar soil. The collected water can also be broken down into hydrogen atoms, which can be used to power hydrogen fuel cells.

Oxygen generators can also be used to continuously produce oxygen through the decomposition and processing of the collected water.

Explain what would be the main purpose of your Moon Camp (for example: commercial, scientific, and/or tourist purposes).

To study whether human beings can survive on the moon and the development of the moon, to study and use the lunar soil, to find new energy substitutes for the scarce energy on the earth, and to provide a foothold for human beings to explore farther space

Describe a day on the Moon for your Moon Camp astronaut crew.

Get up in the morning, first go to the gym to exercise for two hours to keep healthy and in good condition, then take a sponge bath, take a simple bath, have breakfast, put on your spacesuit, go out of the cabin door to check whether the equipment is running normally, keep in touch with the ground to make a report, then simply deal with the crops, then go out to explore and collect resources in the collection car, and come back to collect information in the morning after lunch We can carry out material research, leisure activities or reading books. We can cultivate crops in the afternoon. After dinner in the evening, we can check the collection of equipment and signals again. If there are materials imported or exported, we can get them through the space elevator. Finally, we can make a report to the earth on the day, and then we can enjoy the night sky quietly and then go to sleep.
