Project description

Our lunar camp is built on lava tubes, because a lot of exploration has proved that the natural environment inside lava tubes is favorable for human life and production.In order to protect the camp and personnel, our camp is equipped with a shield generator to prevent the danger caused by meteorite falling.In order to maintain the long-term safe and effective operation of the lunar base, the lunar camp meets the basic conditions of human life, such as residence, medical treatment, leisure and sports.Second, the lunar camp meets the productive needs of the scientific staff, such as scientific research, plant cultivation, energy and food production.In addition, the moon camp also has special functions such as energy development, space medicine, deep space exploration, military stronghold and so on.The residential area is divided into three floors, the ground floor is divided into four areas, respectively for residential medical treatment, leisure sports, through the central channel can lead to the ground floor control area and the ground floor.The camp is surrounded by solar energy harvesting facilities, plant-growing areas, nuclear fusion generators and signal transmitters, and is equipped with a special lunar rover for lunar exploration.

2.1 Where do you want to build your Moon Camp?

Lava pipes in the North and South poles of the moon.Temperature difference is small, because the polar regions may also exist a lot of water ice, which can solve the problem of the raw material of oxygen and water, a warden time under the sun and the moon, we build solar panels convert solar energy into electrical energy, which can solve the problem of electric power, the lava tube within the natural environment provides favorable conditions for human’s life and production, to sum up,We decided to base our camp on lava tubes at the moon’s poles.

 

2.2 How do you plan to build your Moon Camp? Describe the techniques, materials and your design choices.

In the early stage, our moon camp will be transported to the moon by spacecraft, and the initial camp will be assembled by 3D printing technology and robots.The framework for our lunar camp will then be made of Marine-basalt, which will be formed by melting special lunar soil and then cooling and consolidating it in a vacuum.The moon’s surface is littered with minerals and compounds that could be used to produce metals, glass, bricks, paint and other materials for permanent settlements and infrastructure.The entire site will be built using artificial intelligence, 3D printing and other technologies.Lunar soil aggregate was added with low melting point metal.The low melting point metals in lunar rock and lunar soil were extracted and purified by the robot, and the low melting point metals were prepared into rod materials.At the same time, a screening robot was used to screen the lunar soil powder aggregate, which was combined with a metal rod with low melting point, and the printer was used to extruder and print with heating equipment, finally forming a 3D printing building.And the building will be coated with a coating that protects against radiation.

 

2.3 The environment on the Moon is very dangerous for the astronauts. Explain how your Moon Camp will protect them. (maximum 150 words)

n order to live on the moon for a long time, we can only consider using local resources for necessities other than transportation from earth.The permanent shadow on the moon are not affected by the sun all the year round, is BingTaiShui, mining has the difficulty, but rely on the abundant mineral resources of the moon, in the existing method of obtaining water, the most mature one way is to use the hydrogen reduction of ilmenite for water, the hydrogen can rely on electrolytic water, will generate water collected,Then through ion exchange resin and reverse osmosis membrane water purification can solve the daily needs of water resources.

For food, in addition to being transported from Earth, cyanobacteria could be dropped on the moon to break down the lunar soil, participate in photosynthesis and produce some nitrogen fixation, and improve the soil in the plant culture chamber into suitable soil for plant culture. On Earth, cyanobacteria are almost everywhere.Second, crops grown in plant culture can also be used as food.

As for energy, solar power has to be a priority, in addition to carrying some of the nuclear batteries already in use for small devices.Carrying solar panels to the moon in large numbers is not practical.The lunar soil is made up of 45 percent silicon dioxide, which can be extracted to make solar panels that are coated with special protective layers to protect them.Solar base stations could then be built to provide solar energy.In addition, it is suggested that the nuclear reactor base station can also generate electricity for the moon camp.

For oxygen need to survive, we can’t just rely on oxygen bottles, but the water on the moon is a kind of extremely scarce resources, direct electrolysis of water is not realistic, depend on the rich mineral resources, the moon in the moon to obtain oxygen method, the most mature one way is to use the hydrogen reduction of ilmenite, the hydrogen can rely on electrolysis of water,Reduction ilmenite can also receive water at the same time, the forming cycle, can be repeated use of the ilmenite itself on the moon will capture the hydrogen from the solar wind, so the oxygen producing process can produce some extra water or hydrogen net, it’s advantages, in addition, plants of the pure green plant, can also increase the oxygen concentration.

3.1 Describe a day on the Moon for your Moon Camp astronaut crew.
