2.1 Where do you want to build your Moon Camp? Established at the South Pole; Electricity for living on the moon, the operation of equipment and the lunar rover all consume a lot of energy. The sun shines at the South Pole for longer than anywhere else. So, living in the South Pole can get a lot of solar energy to make it easier for us to live on the moon.
2.2 How do you plan to build your Moon Camp? Describe the techniques, materials and your design choices. Considering the high cost of transportation, we chose to use lunar soil to build houses for astronauts to live in;Water is extracted from the lunar soil by equipment. Due to the limited water in the lunar soil and high water quality is not conducive to transportation,we built a water recycling system to provide enough drinking water for the astronauts and built a lunar rover to carry water and walk around. The rover’s main source of energy is solar energy; The facility was built to produce oxygen from the lunar soil through a chemical reaction. In addition to supporting the astronauts,we can also control the pressure in the moon camp with oxygen,to keep the pressure in the camp above and below the standard atmospheric pressure, to prevent the astronauts living under prolonged low pressure caused by muscle atrophy; Oxygen tanks and protective suits can make it easy for astronauts to move around outside on the moon at any time. Using lunar soil to build lunar camps; Heat shield tiles are used for insulation, insulate from the heat outside. Materials could be transported using reusable rocket technology developed by Mr Musk.
2.3 The environment on the Moon is very dangerous for the astronauts. Explain how your Moon Camp will protect them. (maximum 150 words) Solar radiation: By building houses out of lunar soil to protect against radiation; Wear protective clothing when you go out to prevent the intense sunlight from directly shining on the astronauts’ skin and causing burns.
Without oxygen: Create a tunnel between the bases to form a confined space and bring oxygen to the camp.
Extreme temperature: The temperature difference on the surface of the moon is quite large, so we chose to put a heat shield tile on the outer layer of the building to insulate the extreme temperature of the lunar surface.
