Moon Camp Pioneers Gallery 2021-2022

In Moon Camp Pioneers each team’s mission is to 3D design a complete Moon Camp using Fusion 360. They also have to explain how they will use local resources, protect astronauts from the dangerous of space and describe the living and working facilities.

Project description

Translation:
After entering the mysterious moon, our team wants to build a base protected by super shields. The base is divided into astronaut living area, food area, power supply area, oxygen area, monitoring signal receiving area, experimental area, resource mining area, collection area The area, the human detection area, and the emergency backup area are surrounded by base test vehicles, which are convenient for astronauts to move and play a role in monitoring the operation of the base. The entire base needs oxygen coverage. Oxygen generators surround each area, supplying the entire base with oxygen. The shield will be isolated from the outside world, and astronauts will not need to wear heavy space suits on the base. The grain area provides food, and the solar collector plate storage base in the power supply area ensures the normal use of each area.

2.1 Where do you want to build your Moon Camp?

Translation:
We intend to establish a lunar camp in the Kripke Yongtian region of the lunar south pole. Because the sun is full here, it can provide most of the energy for the lunar camp. Also, water ice can be found in the Nagano area not far from the camp. Water ice is ideal for production and life on the Moon. In addition, Kripke can develop uranium-thorium (space reactors) and agricultural potassium-phosphorus for mobile mechanical power fuels.

2.2 How do you plan to build your Moon Camp? Describe the techniques, materials and your design choices.

Translation:
Build a base for human beings wearing space suits to live on the moon without obstacles and sufficient materials. Establish multiple base divisions, including living area, power supply area, oxygen supply area, grain area, detection area, test area, signal reception area, resource mining area, collection area, body detection area and emergency standby area. Each partition is protected from the harsh environment of the moon by the base shield, each partition in turn, and the peripheral base monitoring vehicle makes each partition easy to transport. Technologies used in concrete technology, photoelectric conversion technology, oxygen conversion technology, signal reception and transmission technology, etc. Materials used include new tempered glass, carbon-dimensional materials, adhesives,

2.3 The environment on the Moon is very dangerous for the astronauts. Explain how your Moon Camp will protect them. (maximum 150 words)

Translation:
When faced with emergencies such as meteorite landing, you can take the base rover to reach the lunar cave through the emergency refuge channel. The cave is huge in scale and the structure runs through the ground. The lava tunnel can provide a safe place for astronauts to avoid the sun and the surrounding universe. of harmful radiation and the low temperature of the lunar surface. Of course, if the time to escape is too short, a shelter can be built in advance to shield the accumulation of lunar soil or regolith. It is also important to establish space weather forecasts to test the space environment and help astronauts avoid risks.

2.4 Explain how your Moon Camp will provide the astronauts with:

Water
Food
Power
Air

Water (water): Water resources are acquired through exploitation of the lunar base, solid water is mined in the resource exploitation and collection area, and secondary processing and filtration are carried out in the experimental area to reach the drinking standard.

Food(Food): Food is provided by the food area, which ensures that the astronauts’ three meals a day are nutritious.

Power (Energy): We will use solar panels to produce energy. During solar panel lighting, fuel (hydrogen and oxygen) will be generated from the water by electrolysis. Once the solar panels are shielded, the hydrogen cells will produce electricity to power the entire base.

Air(Air): The problem with air is that it’s supplied by an oxygen zone that converts collected waste into oxygen for astronauts to breathe normally.

2.5 Explain what would be the main purpose of your Moon Camp.

Translation:
To better carry out scientific activities such as astronomical observation; to establish a space power station on the moon for the use of the earth; to develop various mineral resources on the moon; to provide a foothold for further human exploration; Building materials and even propellants; laying the groundwork for future human landings on the moon. Use the space environment to study the origin and evolution of the moon and the earth; carry out experiments and research and development in the fields of microbial genetic engineering, closed-environment life support systems, and large-scale artificial biospheres; develop and utilize lunar resources, establish lunar enterprises, and develop aerospace businesses;

3.1 Describe a day on the Moon for your Moon Camp astronaut crew.

Translation:
Early in the morning on Earth time, the astronauts began to wake up from their warm and comfortable living quarters to start a busy day. After using the fresh ingredients picked the night before, the living area leaves the living area and goes to the power supply area and the oxygen supply area for daily inspection to ensure that the power supply and oxygen supply are normal. Take the base monitoring vehicle and enter the signal receiving area to check whether all aspects of the equipment are operating normally and whether the signal reception is normal. After the investigation, the remote control resource mining and collection area is used to send out the base cover, and the mining robot enters the outer surface of the moon to conduct resource detection, Mining and collecting. The transporter transports the collected resources to the resource mining collection area. Astronauts will collect samples on the base monitoring vehicle and bring the samples into the experimental area. In the experimental area, astronauts can conduct sample research through experimental equipment and discover more unknown resources. At noon, we entered the living area for a meal and then rested. In the afternoon, they will continue their research in the experimental area, and they can also put on space suits to enter the lunar surface for close-range detection and data collection. In the evening, I would go into the food area to get tomorrow’s food, and then go back to the living area to enter the bedroom to relieve the fatigue of the day. Astronauts can conduct sample research through experimental equipment and discover more unknown resources. They will continue to conduct research in the experimental area, and can also put on space suits to enter the lunar surface for close-range exploration and data collection.
