Moon Camp Pioneers Gallery 2021-2022

In Moon Camp Pioneers each team’s mission is to 3D design a complete Moon Camp using Fusion 360. They also have to explain how they will use local resources, protect astronauts from the dangerous of space and describe the living and working facilities.

Project description

On July 20, 1969, Apollo 11 successful landing on the moon, the first human to set foot on the moon’s surface, and from then on, humans began to the comprehensive exploration of the moon and the solar system, at the same time inspire curiosity, more and more ordinary people to space travel was an ‘go to the moon’s travel boom, we base on the moon was born.

2.1 Where do you want to build your Moon Camp?

We’ll be basing ourselves in the stormy Ocean on the front of the moon, the moon’s largest ocean and an open plain. Visitors can enjoy the view of our earth from the lunar perspective, the strange lunar landscape and the infinite starry sky. Communicating with Earth from the moon’s front is also easy, allowing visitors to share the moment with friends and family.

2.2 How do you plan to build your Moon Camp? Describe the techniques, materials and your design choices.

We will use 3 d printing to print the entire base material will pass the moon rock and metal ore, and the earth to carry on composite plastic fiber and glass fiber, adding the fiber has a certain tensile performance of concrete, not like the traditional concrete compressive ability strong but it is broken, a snapping and stacked like toothpaste between layer and layer, Can closely connection layer and layer, we base a sharp rise in the structure strength, and the glass curtain wall parts, we will use multiple laser on glass wire melting and solidification, the temperature of 400-2000 ℃ printing allowed to print any glass material, including ultra high purity silica, is not a problem, light transmittance and common glass, Visitors can enjoy the vast starry sky and the silent moon.

2.3 The environment on the Moon is very dangerous for the astronauts. Explain how your Moon Camp will protect them. (maximum 150 words)

In our lunar camp, each cabin is independently supplied with oxygen and kept at a constant temperature without worrying about the moon’s death temperature of -183°C. The base has a large number of solar panels and hydrogen generated by hydroelectricity to ensure a steady supply of energy. At the same time, we also have a steady supply of food to ensure the comfort of passengers living in space. The base communicates with Earth in real time to predict meteorites in advance, and when danger comes, travelers can take refuge in the basement of the camp and wait it out.

2.4 Explain how your Moon Camp will provide the astronauts with:

Water
Food
Power
Air

Using a furnace with temperatures of more than 1,000 degrees Celsius, the lunar soil that is fed into the furnace is forced directly from solid to gaseous, and then hydrogen and methane are added to it. These gases then undergo a chemical reaction to produce water from which oxygen can be extracted, which can be purified to make drinking water for passengers.

Vegetables will be the base of the vegetable greenhouses “made the moon”, soil based on vermiculite as raw material (this is a very common artificial plants provided raw materials), low energy consumption, LED lights will provide the spectrum of the adjustable light, while starch class will be synthesized from carbon dioxide, protein can also through the synthesis of carbon monoxide, tourists on trip around the moon can “balanced diet”

There are plenty of solar panels and hydrogen from hydroelectricity to keep the base running

The base has an air circulation system, where oxygen can be converted from hydroelectricity, plant photosynthesis, and carbon dioxide exhaled by passengers

2.5 Explain what would be the main purpose of your Moon Camp.

Our camp is mainly for the purpose of tourism, to provide tourists with a different travel experience, visitors can experience the forefront of human science and technology in the base, as well as learn about the legendary history of human exploration of the moon, stimulate more people’s curiosity and desire for space.

3.1 Describe a day on the Moon for your Moon Camp astronaut crew.

The traveler woke up from his sleep with a view of the earth looming in the starry sky outside the window. He untied his body and this was the first time he had slept in low gravity. This feeling made him feel wonderful. The robot had delivered his breakfast of yesterday, scrambled eggs made of synthetic protein, vegetable soup “made of the moon,” and bread made of carbon dioxide starch. After dinner, he came to the Moon exhibition hall, he from “July 20, 1969 Armstrong’s first moon landing” began to browse the legendary human lunar exploration process…… In the afternoon, he went to the “Fun Lab” to experience experiments that astronauts had done, to experience how to make a 360 degree turn in mid-air. At night, he goes to the gym and works out in low gravity to experience a different kind of fitness.
