Project description

Our lunar camp is a lunar base centered on scientific research, which we have built in small craters in the lunar polar regions, so that we can use the polar water ice more effectively. Our lunar camp is mainly divided into two floors above ground and two floors below ground, the first floor is the living area, including the necessities of human life, including food, entertainment, rest and exercise; the second floor is the control room, with a console and 3D printer, mainly responsible for the base maintenance, control and space observation. There are also space farms on the surface. The negative layer is an experimental area and storage area, which can mainly carry out space biological experiments, storage and oxygen production. The second floor underground is mainly a nuclear fusion power station, which mainly uses the rich helium 3 on the moon to provide electricity for the base.

Among them, our living area is very humanistic care, in addition to the basic living facilities, our base also has fitness, viewing, leisure food and other very humanistic care areas, so that astronauts can feel the warmth of the earth in space.

Our camp is built in the base areas of the north and south poles of the moon, which may have more recoverable water ice for the domestic and experimental water and even energy water inside the base. And the north and south poles of the moon are not yet touched, taking a bigger step towards understanding the moon.

2.1 Where do you want to build your Moon Camp?

In our vision, we will build the lunar camp in a small crater at the South Pole or the Arctic. On the one hand, we can use ice from the north and south poles of the moon to guarantee domestic and experimental water and even energy water inside the base.On the other hand, small craters can reduce the risk of meteorite impact (although the chance is small). Also, severe impacts in the crater as a result will produce a layer of quartz ground on the moon surface, which provides a particularly stable foundation for the construction of the camp.

2.2 How do you plan to build your Moon Camp? Describe the techniques, materials and your design choices.

Our lunar camp is mainly divided into four layers, and the first ground layer is a living area. The upper part of our base is inspired by a three-dimensional structure composed of multiple hexagons, and the first layer is anti-ultraviolet glass, which can prevent ultraviolet light from causing damage to human body. The second floor above the ground undertakes the lower layer structure, making the base more beautiful. The first underground layer is the test area and storage area, mainly for space biological experiments and oxygen manufacturing, between the layers with excellent sealing performance of tungsten carbide alloy connection. The second floor is made of tungsten carbide alloy and quilted structure as support to ensure the stability of the overall structure.People and objects interact between the floors through the maglev elevator. The construction of our lunar camp can be provided through the construction of 3D printing.

2.3 The environment on the Moon is very dangerous for the astronauts. Explain how your Moon Camp will protect them. (maximum 150 words)

The main threats on the moon are temperature, vacuum, lack of oxygen deprivation, ultraviolet radiation and meteorites.

For the base we design, these problems can be solved.

Temperature, vacuum: The outer surface of our base is made of tungsten carbide shell, this material can not only withstand the super high temperature of 1300 degrees Celsius, but also excellent air tightness.Adding him to the outermost layer of our base can play a great heat insulation sealing effect.Ensure the safety of the base.

Ultraviolet light: The outer surface of our residential cabin is made of reflective glass to isolate strong radiation from the day.The periphery of the glass is coated with a layer of composite silicon fiber, allowing astronauts to observe the surroundings indoors without damaging their eyes.

Meteorite: The possibility of a second meteorite hit in the same place is almost zero, so our base site is a crater, which greatly reduces the threat from extraterrestrial objects.

2.4 Explain how your Moon Camp will provide the astronauts with:

Water
Food
Power
Air

Water: Water is a necessity of human life and a basic element of life. It is difficult for us to obtain water on the moon, but the lunar camp we designed can extract and store water ice from the two poles of the moon (the address of the base), so the water supply in our lunar camp is in place.

Food sources: mainly earth supplies and the crops grown on space farms. We have a rocket launch pad outside our base, through which we can interact with the earth’s supplies and personnel. We can also get astronauts to raise some plants in space, and of course, our space farm has a smart planting system that can monitor and detect the growth state of the plants based on algorithms and sensors, eliminating manpower.Astronauts only need to view and pick them regularly.

Energy source: our lunar camp is a autonomous controllable energy, our main energy from nuclear fusion, in the base underground 2 layers we have fusion circulation machine, can use the moon rock rich in helium three controllable fusion, endless provide stable power for the base, and our space plant chamber itself can also independent function, our space plant plantation peripheral with foldable solar panels, provide a small amount of energy for the chamber itself.

Oxygen source: we through electrolysis water and potassium perchlorate oxygen, finally use generated oxygen and hydrogen for indoor air circulation, design a machine can measure the indoor carbon dioxide content, control the release of oxygen, inside the machine also with photosynthesis dark reaction phase required catalyst and reduce hydrogen, our oxygen circulation device can detect the amount of carbon dioxide in the air and absorb carbon dioxide and hydrogen for artificial photosynthesis. The resulting starch is stored at the bottom of the device to achieve efficient carbon cycling.

2.5 Explain what would be the main purpose of your Moon Camp.

Our lunar camp is a more comprehensive project that can be used for both scientific research and residential and business tourism. The aboveground livable area is perfect for giving the base personnel enough opportunity to observe space and space entertainment, and you can even sit by the TV and have a cup of lunar coffee. The underground experimental area provides the conditions for the research of the space environment. At present, our lunar camp can carry out space biological experiments and plant planting.I will briefly summarize the characteristics of our lunar camp.

Humanistic: Our lunar camp is not a harsh working environment. It has a lot of leisure and entertainment, and astronauts can even drink coffee (a luxury) and chat with their loved ones on Earth on video TV.The underground floor is a cultural leisure area with great artistic characteristics, which does not make astronauts feel lonely and panic in space, because they are as if they were living on earth.

With a strong scientific background: we have a biological laboratory, test bench, buffer room and ultra-clean workbench all right first underground. We have the rover, which can cover 2000 —— 5000 meters around the base. Our plant breeding room is equipped with an intelligent robot that can monitor and detect the growth state of plants in real time.

Strong load capacity: the energy supply of our base is very in place, inexhaustible nuclear power generation and inexhaustible lunar water ice make our base have a very strong compression capacity, our base can ensure the basic living security of 15 people at the same time.

3.1 Describe a day on the Moon for your Moon Camp astronaut crew.

On the second day, the astronauts woke up from dormancy, opened the door of the dormant module, and walked out of the sleeping room. The astronauts had a whole body scan to confirm normal hormones and other normal physiology, and went to the second floor to clock in and report to the earth on the upcoming work of the second day.

After 15 minutes on the treadmill, walk into the kitchen for breakfast, not rich, simple slices of bread made of synthetic starch and a cup of lunar coffee. After the meal, the astronauts will start the day of work.

The astronauts first checked the oxygen supply device to check for failure, confirming that the oxygen release was normal and artificial photosynthesis was normal, the astronauts took the maglev elevator to the second floor to check whether the nuclear power plant could operate normally. Then go to the underground layer of the biological experiments to conduct space biological experiments, do a good summary. They then went to the space farm to record the plant growth. The work in the base has been completed, the astronauts put on spacesuits out of the base for the periphery of the base exploration work, driving a lunar rover looking at the boundless white earth, very in awe.Patrol about 4 hours later, return to the base, astronauts after electrostatic dust device attached to the dust, and then go to the ground on the second floor, the second night work report to the earth report, work, astronauts can have a simple rest, he sat on the sofa watching the World Cup live on earth, holding a cup of coffee, after, the astronauts on the second floor of the observatory, through the telescope to observe the deep of the universe.

After 14 hours of work, the astronauts returned into the dormant module for 10 lost sleep. He dreamed, ” There are 13 Earth days in day and weekdays.”

What a hard astronaut.
