Moon Camp Pioneers Gallery 2021-2022

In Moon Camp Pioneers each team’s mission is to 3D design a complete Moon Camp using Fusion 360. They also have to explain how they will use local resources, protect astronauts from the dangerous of space and describe the living and working facilities.

Project description

Dangers abound on the moon, and we must have a living space on which we can live. For the construction of the lunar camp, we will make scientific use of the moon under the premise of meeting the needs of individual life. For the construction of the lunar camp, we will carry out the construction of the camp in accordance with the goal of “self-sufficiency” and make full use of the lunar resources.

In the early stage of the concept, the vision of the lunar camp is to realize the integration of life, scientific research, warehousing, collection, and production capacity, and add some recreational facilities to ensure the physical and mental health of individuals, and add a sense of science and technology to the ordinary. Embody humanistic consciousness in machines.

2.1 Where do you want to build your Moon Camp?

According to the panel discussion, we built the lunar camp inside a crater hole on the lunar surface, which would greatly reduce the risk of the camp being hit by meteorites, while also greatly reducing the exposure of the camp location risk. According to the analysis of the lunar topography, it was found that there are more deep craters in the southern hemisphere than in the northern hemisphere, which is convenient for camp site selection. In addition, the camp will be close to the lunar spherical pole, because the two ends of the moon contain more ice water, which is convenient for the camp to mine and ensure the camp’s water supply.

2.2 How do you plan to build your Moon Camp? Describe the techniques, materials and your design choices.

The outer part of the camp will be built with a protective cover, which will be divided into two layers, the outer layer is hard to resist the blows of meteorites and other objects, and has a protective color, and the inner layer will have a device to adjust the degree of light and darkness.

Controlled Dyson sphere nuclear fusion, lunar ice dehogging, soilless cultivation, controlled carbon cycling, differential centrifugation, VR projection and other technologies will be used inside the camp, in addition Concepts such as “dietary therapy” and “electromagnetic conversion” will escort camp operations and astronaut health.

2.3 The environment on the Moon is very dangerous for the astronauts. Explain how your Moon Camp will protect them. (maximum 150 words)

The external protective cover of the camp will protect against external threats, there will be patrol cars inside the moon to monitor and monitor the air quality of the camp at any time; in addition, an escape device will be built inside the base, containing a distress device, and a large number of items for daily necessities will be stored to ensure our living needs in times of disaster, and the escape room can be given to us in a desperate situation Bring the hope of life; a variety of material supply methods to ensure our quality of life, special food machines to escort us; the camp contains a virtual reality interactive machine, and the use of special technology to make the internal gravity of the instrument equal to the earth, We can use it to alleviate the effects of low pressure, we can also use it for exercise, chat and walk with our families, thus ensuring our mental health, and still positive in the face of boring lunar life; special rest seats ensure that astronauts have high-quality sleep while ensuring personal safety , the internal use of air bag massage, Traditional Chinese medicine conditioning and other ways to ensure our health.

2.4 Explain how your Moon Camp will provide the astronauts with:

Water
Food
Power
Air

Since the transportation of water to the moon requires a lot of investment, and can not be done anytime, anywhere, so after discussion will be the lunar ice at the two poles of the moon, the moon Polar ice will be collected through a channel built by lunar earthworms, then transported to the camp to thaw, and then after the processed water, domestic wastewater and other water resources produced by nuclear fusion have been purified by de-impurity purification and other steps, it will become edible water resources, and finally it will be wrapped in a special food-grade film and turned into water droplets. Drinkable water is thus made.

In the lunar camp, a large number of green vegetables will be planted in a specific petri dish, the specific machine will monitor and adjust the living environment of vegetables from time to time, to ensure that the quality of vegetables is passed, the taste is excellent, and then these vegetables will be automatically harvested, and then processed into toothpaste-like Tubular food has the advantages of being easy to eat and easier to preserve, and when food is manufactured, it will not use a single recipe, but will be carried out according to our physical condition Private specific configuration to ensure the stability of trace elements in our body and the stability of organ function.

On the surface of the moon, the light and dark time intervals are too long, and if the solar energy supply is the mainstay, there will be uncertainty, so the camp will control the nuclear energy generated by nuclear fusion as the main energy supply method, and build a backup energy storage tank to ensure that the camp will not affect our normal life when it fails. It is worth mentioning that the Dyson Sphere device will be built on the outside of the nuclear reactor to improve the absorption of reaction energy by the device. In addition, the electrical energy converted into energy will be transmitted between buildings under the operation of radio towers in a microwave situation.

As we all know, oxygen in the human body into carbon dioxide, in order to make it return to oxygen, complete the carbon cycle, we will use the principle of plant photosynthesis, build special instruments, the appearance of the reference tree, the internal through the artificial propulsion of the method of carbon dioxide conversion back to oxygen, while planting plants, to ensure the supply of oxygen in the camp.

2.5 Explain what would be the main purpose of your Moon Camp.

Countless people are curious about this planet that accompanies us every day, so there are countless stories about the moon, and with the advancement of science and technology, we finally have the opportunity to step on this unknown and familiar planet, and we believe that only by constantly understanding and contacting it can we realize this ancient idea So we designed this lunar camp to allow scientists to better study the moon and thus achieve the progress of civilization.

3.1 Describe a day on the Moon for your Moon Camp astronaut crew.

In a corner of the moon, there is a mushroom-like base, in an alarm clock sounds, astronauts out of a sphere, and this sphere is not ordinary, it can be centrifugal method to adjust the gravity of the human body, to ensure that astronauts can safely fall asleep. The astronauts who got up, with the help of artificial intelligence, examined their bodies and then imported their physical condition into the food machine to get the best meal plan. The astronaut who had breakfast checked whether the equipment of the camp was normal, determined whether the air supply and other supplies in the camp were normal, and then entered the research room, today he needed to study the materials collected by the collection vehicle, the busy astronauts in the morning and after lunch, turned on the VR mode, and the family walked and talked on the distant earth. In the afternoon, the astronauts came to the planting room, looked at the vegetables to be eaten next week, dumped the long-stored garbage into the treatment pool for destruction, extracted useful substances, and stored them for secondary use. It gets dark because the panels adjust to night mode over time, and at night the astronauts work out on a virtual reality interactive machine after scheduling a lunar rover collection mission, and the tired astronauts finally go back to their rooms and fall asleep.
