Moon Camp Pioneers Gallery 2021-2022

In Moon Camp Pioneers each team’s mission is to 3D design a complete Moon Camp using Fusion 360. They also have to explain how they will use local resources, protect astronauts from the dangerous of space and describe the living and working facilities.

Project description

The theme of our trip to the moon was sightseeing. From Earth, scientists, astronauts and tourists were sent to the moon in batches, eventually landing in a crater on the moon and camping out for a series of lunar programs. To create the first amenity-looking lunar resort, a variety of featured buildings and activities will be launched to create a complete travel package for visitors.

2.1 Where do you want to build your Moon Camp?

Our camp is in a crater at the moon’s poles, and it’s going to be embedded in that crater, and that crater is also going to provide security for our astronauts and for the camp, and it’s going to build a planting base in that crater, so that crater is ideal for us.

2.2 How do you plan to build your Moon Camp? Describe the techniques, materials and your design choices.

First of all, the foldable alloy material brought from the earth is used to construct the shell part of the camp and to build the foundation, and a suitable size space is dug out from the mountainfor the main body of the base to build. It then covers the perimeter of the base with solid lunar soil, leaving the top of the base, andother small parts print parts and materials using state-of-the-art 3D printers, and then assemble it.

2.3 The environment on the Moon is very dangerous for the astronauts. Explain how your Moon Camp will protect them. (maximum 150 words)

Our camp will be built in a crater so in defense our astronauts will use the nature of the crater with mountains so our astronauts can use the terrain and it will protect the camp as well.At the same time, the camp is a complete closed structure, free from special contamination. The astronauts were placed in a safe, closed environment.

2.4 Explain how your Moon Camp will provide the astronauts with:

Water
Food
Power
Air

First, carrying some water from earth for astronauts to survive for a period of time. In the normal life of astronauts on, the unique ecological environment of the camp will continuously provide drinking water, such as: water treatment system in green ecological areas; purification and recycling through wastewater (kitchen wastewater, urine, etc.).Finally, our astronauts will have enough water to recycle.

Cabbage and potatoes are staple hydropics in enclosed greenhouses.Beans are easy to carry, cook and store, grow a variety of edible vegetables and fruits in the base’s green planting area, and after a period of time, our astronauts can eat almost the same vegetables as on earth, achieving diet diversification and freedom.

By reflecting sunlight into a permanently shaded area, heating the lunar soil to sublimate water ice into steam, then collected and processed into purified water, which is decomposed into hydrogen and oxygen by electrolytic water.Electricity is generated by solar energy, biological energy, and thermal power.

On the one hand, oxygen is produced through plant photosynthesis, and oxygen can be obtained by processing down metals. At the same time, green ecosystems will have nitrogen-generating devices to create a gas environment consistent with human breathing conditions on Earth, allowing astronauts to live better on the moon.

2.5 Explain what would be the main purpose of your Moon Camp.

The purpose is mainly sightseeing, sending tourists to the moon to live in the camp for a while and feel the moon’s costume. At the same time, there will be a live broadcast to share lunar life with people on Eart and carry out rich activities. On the other hand, we hope to find “special” veins on the moon, such as “water veins”, special etals and so on.

3.1 Describe a day on the Moon for your Moon Camp astronaut crew.

In the morning, the astronauts finish washing, eating and so on in the living area, after which they will go to the recreation room to exercise for an hour to ensure their physical fitness, and then they will complete the work according to their respective schedules.Engineers will inspect and maintain the equipment in the camp; botanists will observe and inspect the plants and study how to grow more crops; medical experts will organize the medicine to treat diseases for those in need; scientists will study the energy and material; Some astronauts are responsible for taking visitors to sightseeing and live displays on the moon on Earth.Visitors can visit various departments of the camp to learn about research work and life on the moon, visit the central planting area to experience something completely different from the Earth, or participate in activities, such as a 3D printer using special materials on the moon. The restaurant makes delicious and well-balanced food for the astronauts based on different meals. The astronauts will be divided into three groups based on their function, who will rest eight hours a day and change shifts based on schedule to ensure that there is always people at the camp.
