Project description

Due to the depletion of the earth’s energy, the production of The Domain of God base is imminent, and the overall shape of our base adopts the theme of snowflakes, symbolizing the unity of all mankind to solve the energy problems facing human survival. Our base mainly exploits the abundant energy materials on the moon, such as the use of microwave irradiation methods to refine the extremely rich energy substances on the moon such as helium-3 to help the earth solve the energy crisis problem. Our base has all the equipment for the normal life of astronauts, scientific research, and transportation of energy materials to the earth. The base is equipped with living and entertainment venues, general control rooms, laboratories, water production rooms, oxygen production rooms, energy storage rooms, etc. The base is equipped with a perfect thermal control system to make the astronaut’s living environment reach the most comfortable temperature and humidity, and the system can also prevent the damage of some precision instruments due to temperature differences. In addition, we provide astronauts with a multi-functional smart bed, which allows astronauts to control the operation of the entire base in bed, and provides astronauts with the most comfortable body relaxation function. We are equipped with solar thermal drilling integrated water harvesting vehicles to provide a steady stream of water resources for the base. In addition, our mineral energy harvesting vehicles use fully automated exploration and extraction technology to achieve the original purpose of our base construction.

2.1 Where do you want to build your Moon Camp?

Our base is located in the lunar south pole-Aytoken basin because it is the largest impact crater on the moon, which can be so abundant in light that there is abundant solar energy to maintain the operation of our base, and because the lunar south pole has a permanent shadow area, the shadow area is rich in water ice, which can provide a solid foundation for the operation of the base and the daily life of astronauts. Although the temperature difference at the south pole of the moon is very large, due to the unique thermal control system of our base, this is something we do not need to consider, and we can provide the most comfortable living environment for astronauts.

2.2 How do you plan to build your Moon Camp? Describe the techniques, materials and your design choices.

Our initial plan was to make some walls using titanium on Earth, some glass (which has extremely high strength) using AM-III material, and transporting it to the moon to build the early foundation frame. After the astronauts arrive at the moon, they will make full use of in situ resources and use 3D printing to make other parts of the base to improve the base. Our base is built in a modular way by dividing the entire base into several small parts, which has the advantage of being able to repair it well even if some of the bases fail during use.

Due to the needs of our base thermal control system, we will add thermal infrared emissivity variable materials to the glass interlayer at the top of the house, because the thermal infrared emissivity variable materials can change the transmittance of sunlight to automatically control the temperature in the cabin, and because the moon does not have an atmosphere, the sun’s ultraviolet rays will be harmful to plants and astronauts, and the thermal infrared emissivity variable materials can also protect the health of plants and astronauts.

2.3 The environment on the Moon is very dangerous for the astronauts. Explain how your Moon Camp will protect them. (maximum 150 words)

We take into account the impact of moon dust, radiation, meteorites, temperature differences and other factors on the lunar camp, our base is equipped with filters and disinfection devices, when astronauts enter the base will be the whole body of dust and disinfection, can effectively solve the harm caused by moon dust. We also have a perfect thermal control system to solve the harm caused by temperature differences on the moon to astronauts. The walls of our base will use titanium as a building material, and the glass on the top floor will use AM-III material, because they have high strength properties to resist the hazards caused by small meteorites. And our materials are thickened to block radiation on the moon.

2.4 Explain how your Moon Camp will provide the astronauts with:

Water
Food
Power
Air

Water is necessary conditions under which live on the moon, is the material base of normal operation must be based, so we are very pay attention to this aspect of the construction of facilities, we use the drill integration of field water trucks to collect the water ice on the moon, through the perfect water purification device, will melt water ice to get water by silver ions disinfector and so on the many kinds of filter disinfection device,  Make it fit for astronauts to drink.  The base also has a hydrogen fuel cell, which generates pure water for astronauts to use as well as power the base, using hydrogen generated by electrolysis of the moon’s molten water ice.  The waste recycling device in the base can also recycle waste water.  The base is equipped with large capacity water storage units to store excess water, giving astronauts the “luxury” of water.

At the beginning of the base construction, astronauts had to bring some vacuum food from the earth to ensure the supply of their own energy, and for convenience, these foods do not need to be heated, and can be eaten in bags, which not only facilitates the astronauts’ lives but also replenishes the necessary energy for their life activities. With the completion of the base, we also adopted two ways of hydroponic and soil cultivation to grow plants and supplement the vitamins and other nutrients necessary for the human body. We will choose tomatoes to supplement vitamin A, cucumbers to supplement vitamin C, protein, and some vitamins such as calcium and iron, and potatoes to supplement sugar. Meat is also regularly supplemented from the earth to provide protein.

Because the site of the base has sufficient light, so we prefer solar power generation, using sufficient solar energy on the moon to provide energy for the operation of the base, but this energy supply method alone is far from enough, we will also use electrolyzed water to accumulate hydrogen and oxygen, providing reactants for the operation of hydrogen fuel cells, so that hydrogen fuel cells can be powered in time. The reason for these two power supply methods is to avoid the long lunar night, which leads to insufficient solar power supply and prevents the base from being paralyzed. In addition, our base also contains a thermal control system that can recover the heat energy discarded at the base and use it for power generation in case of special circumstances.

First of all, when leaving the earth, we will bring some oxygen to supply the excessive construction of the base in the early stage, and after the base is basically completed, we will use the method of electrolysis of water to produce oxygen, because the moon polar region is rich in water ice, so this method is extremely practical. In addition, some plants will be planted around our base, which can achieve air circulation with the inside of the base. In addition, we will use the sintered lunar topsoil as the cathode, the Sn-doped In2O3 as the anode, the CaCl molten salt as the electrolyte, and the solar energy as the energy source for electrolysis to produce oxygen.

2.5 Explain what would be the main purpose of your Moon Camp.

The main purpose of our base is to drive business through scientific research. Through scientific research, the energy material on the moon (helium-3) is used to solve the energy crisis on The Earth and raise certain funds for the subsequent expansion of the base in preparation for future human colonization of the moon. The base could also serve as a springboard for humans to study other planets in the solar system, as the moon has a broader view and location advantage than Earth.

3.1 Describe a day on the Moon for your Moon Camp astronaut crew.

Astronauts on the moon day is very fortunate, so we use a fully automatic smart bed to ensure that astronauts can get enough sleep, because of the special function of the smart bed so that astronauts do not need to take turns on duty, which can monitor the situation of the entire base. Therefore, the astronauts will carry out a day of hard work after sufficient rest, get up in the morning and they will carry out personal hygiene, and then arrive at the dining area to replenish the energy in the morning to ensure the energy supply in the morning, and after the meal, they will be divided into 3 groups, one group will carry out the maintenance and maintenance of the whole base equipment, the other group will carry out the cultivation and collection of plants, and the last group will carry out the inventory and statistics of energy materials. After all the pre-work preparations are completed, they will officially start the day’s work, and they will be divided into two groups, one group will carry out the research of minerals and energy substances, and the other group will carry out the fully automatic extraction and storage of minerals and energy substances. So they ended a busy morning and came to lunchtime, they would gather for a lunch made of high-quality protein and vitamins, after the meal they would have a 1-hour lunch break to prepare for the afternoon work, in the afternoon they would summarize the morning study, and the statistics of the amount of mineral energy mined, and then they would concentrate on the control room to connect with the earth for mission reporting, and the planning of transporting energy to the earth. After completing the day’s tasks, they will relax by performing their favorite entertainment projects, such as fitness, listening to music, reading books, watching movies, etc., and finally they will replenish dinner, as well as a bath to wash away the tiredness of the day, and then rest.
