The main purpose of the base is to combine the research function with the possibility of a long-term moon stay for a number of astronauts.
The base is self-sufficient as it has energy source and sufficient amount of food. The main source of energy is the solar radiation which is captured through panels mounted outside the base. The efficiency of the panels is increased because there’s no atmosphere on the Moon. The energy is accumulated during the lunar day and used during the lunar night.
The base consists of two connected parts. First part is located on the surface of the Moon while the other one is below its surface.
To protect against radiation, temperature or meteors, the entire base is covered with regolith.
The first part of the base located on the surface consists of:
– garage for research rovers,
– solar energy aggregate,
– medical facility.
Below the surface are:
– storage rooms,
– rest rooms,
– bathrooms,
– the gym,
– the zone used to cultivate plants for oxygen and food.
