Project description

Moon Camp Report – Team Rocketeers

This Moon Camp Project was developed by MinYoung Kim, the team leader, and Adam Pandey and Agam Rossen the lead designerswho are students from SEK Dublin in classes MYP4/5.

At first this project was designed in rough sketch oAutodesk Tinker Cad. We then rendered our definitive version on Autodesk Fusion 360All the objects in the moon camp are completely original and not taken from the internet. Our Moon camp contains a garage to park the rovers.

2.1 Where do you want to build your Moon Camp?

The moon camp is made for flat grounds on the moon, The Moon camp can stand harsh environments and is built to contain heat inside. Because of its ability to withstand harsh environments, it can be usein the moon without a problem, and can even be used in rocky biomes.

2.2 How do you plan to build your Moon Camp? Describe the techniques, materials and your design choices.

The moon camp will be built in a different way than the standard methods of creating structures on earth, because it will be built on the moon and for example, the lower amount of gravity on the moon can affect the building of the moon camp structure. Meaning that new methods of building will have to be used.

2.3 The environment on the Moon is very dangerous for the astronauts. Explain how your Moon Camp will protect them. (maximum 150 words)

Our Moon camp has a protective Titanium layer around it, which is light and durable at the same time. The moon’s surface is constantly bombarded with asteroids from outer space.

2.4 Explain how your Moon Camp will provide the astronauts with:

Water
Food
Power
Air

As modern astronauts do, one method to get water will be to recycle the pee of the astronauts and filter them to get purified water.

Astronauts will be able to use cells from animals on earth to develop meat inside a laboratory.

We will use solar power to store energy. We will use a large reservoir to store energy.

Oxygen tanks around the camp will provide air to breathe for the astronauts. The filter will purify the farts and the carbon di oxide produced.

2.5 Explain what would be the main purpose of your Moon Camp.

Our Moon Camp will be for research and commercial use only. And scientific purposes as well, to help humanity.

3.1 Describe a day on the Moon for your Moon Camp astronaut crew.

Waking up and eating in the main room, which is the bottom floor, then checking that all of the antennas and communication with NASA on earth is functional and working. Then, talking with the NASA crew on earth to hear some news, and in some days, see what they need to do that day. Depending on the day, the crew will check and take the rovers to explore the land around to attempt to make new discoveries. Then returning to the camp, going to sleep and repeating the process.
