The Moon Camp Discovery projects by the 8th grade students of our classes have been designed as comprehensive science projects. We put ourselves in the shoes of astronauts preparing the possibility of mars colonization.
Firstly, we thought about the difference between living and surviving. Key survival factors : Oxygen, security, water and food were tought by our teacher thanks to ESA ressources.
Then, each student designed their own moon camp, keeping in mind not only the key survival factors we had learned, but also, taking into account activities that seemed pivotal to a good life (Music, sports, conversation, gardening and so on).
The only common factor of the 7 projects submitted by our class is their starting point : the ” how to design a moon camp gym” tutorial from the NCSS.
They are all unique and come with notes and explainations about the ideas behidn each design.
