Project description

Our design includes adaptations for flying on the Moon. The soft helmet has revolving rotors that can spin to generate lift and forward thrust like a miniature helicopter.

Controls on the helmet rim and wrist allow the astronaut to steer and maneuver while flying. Protective visors provide visibility in all directions. The suit remains lightly padded and flexible; additional rocket packs are not needed for takeoff or landing.

wings/rotors fold into the helmet. The suit is still carefully insulated and sealed to maintain oxygen supply, prevent depressurization and shield from radiation, micrometeoroids and temperature swings. Lunar dust cannot contaminate the suit during surface excursions or flight.

Propellant tanks on the backpack power the rotors with a limited flight duration of 60 minutes. Chargers can recharge propellants using solar power during daytime surface operations. The suit remains as lightweight and mobile as possible for efficient movement in lunar gravity .
