Moon Camp Explorers 2022 – 2023 Project Gallery

In Moon Camp Explorers each team’s mission is to 3D design a complete Moon Camp using Tinkercad. They also have to explain how they will use local resources, protect astronauts from the dangers of space and describe the living and working facilities in their Moon Camp.

1.1 – Project Description

In our moon camp we wanted to make it space efficient and resistant to make it last years and survive natural danger like meteor. we chose to make it mostly underground for natural protection. We will use radio communication for short distance communication, but we will use a laser to communicate with earth.

1.2 – Why do your astronaut want to go to the Moon and build a Moon Camp?

They will want to go live in our camp because it will be the first settlement on the moon an by doing this they will enter history has the first people to live on the moon

2.1.a – Where do you want to build your Moon Camp?

Close to the lunar poles

2.2.b – Why did you choose this location?

We chose to build our moon camp on the pole to be close to the moon ice and because there is always sunlight which is going be perfect to collect electricity an to grow our food. there is also empty lava tunnel that we can build in safely.

2.2 How do you plan to build your Moon Camp? Describe how you can use the Moon’s natural resources, and which materials you would need to bring from Earth.

Material

To build the base we will use graphene because it is 4 times lighter and 10 times stronger than steel. we will use plastic to create the dome of our greenhouse.

3.1 – How does your Moon Camp protect and provide shelter to your astronauts against the Moon’s harsh environment.

PROTECTION

each of our astronaut will have a space suit of their own. The whole outer parts of the base will have radiation proof material. The base will be mostly underground to protect ourselves from micrometeorite and solar radiation.

3.2 – On the Moon, resources are very scarce, but during long Moon missions, astronauts cannot rely on resupply missions from the Earth. Explain how your Moon Camp will provide astronauts with sustainable access to basic needs like water, food, air and power.

WATER

For water we will use the natural ice deposit present on the moon. After liquefying the ice, we are going to filter and decontaminate the water so it can be used for daily task and need like drinking and watering the plants. We are also going to recycle the water the same way that the is recycle water

Electricity

To get electricity we will use solar panel and store it in graphene super charger because it loses less power than classic lithium battery electricity due to temperature and its lighter. To transfer power around the base we will use graphene cables because it is super light making it easy to transport and it is the most conductive material known to man.

Food

We will eat algae for food because it can create a lot of oxygen, but we will also try to raise fishes. algae will be our first food to grow on the moon, but we will slowly add more and more variety.

Air

We will use algae to make oxygen because it is the most space efficient and easy to maintain we would also vaporise a small quantity of water to add humidity.

4.1 – What would you include in your astronaut training programme, to help prepare the astronauts for a Moon mission?

The day of our astronaut will start at 6 am where they will eat breakfast and clean themselves until 8 am from 8 to 9 am they will inspect the camp to see if there are any problems for the rest of the day, they will do different thing depending on their talents. some of them will take care of the food supply some will do scientific research…

The training program will include physical test, a mental one and their talents like knowing how to repair different machines we will use on the moon, being a good scientist …
