Moon Camp Explorers 2022 – 2023 Project Gallery

In Moon Camp Explorers each team’s mission is to 3D design a complete Moon Camp using Tinkercad. They also have to explain how they will use local resources, protect astronauts from the dangers of space and describe the living and working facilities in their Moon Camp.

1.1 – Project Description

Get ready to embark on a journey to the moon with our innovative Moon Camp project.
Our goal is to establish a fully functional, self-sustaining lunar settlement that will support human exploration and scientific research.
We’re bringing together a team of brilliant minds from different disciplines to create a design that is both functional
and aesthetically pleasing.

We have 19 years old and we want to show ideas for the rest of students. Vocational training course on Robotics.

We participate in the others projects too. (We learnt to use TinkerCAD and it is very funny)

1.2 – Why do your astronaut want to go to the Moon and build a Moon Camp?

Our astronauts are driven by a passion for space exploration and a desire to push the boundaries of human knowledge.
They believe that by establishing a permanent presence on the Moon, we can unlock the secrets of the universe and make groundbreaking discoveries that will benefit humanity for generations to come.

2.1.a – Where do you want to build your Moon Camp?

Close to the lunar poles

2.2.b – Why did you choose this location?

Our Moon Camp will be located on the southern pole of the Moon, where we believe there may be deposits of water ice. This location will provide the resources we need to sustain life and support our scientific research.

The southern pole of the Moon is an ideal location for our Moon Camp because it receives continuous sunlight, which will allow us to generate solar power, and it may contain water ice, which we can use for drinking water, growing crops, and fuel.

It also has interesting geological features that our astronauts can study.

2.2 How do you plan to build your Moon Camp? Describe how you can use the Moon’s natural resources, and which materials you would need to bring from Earth.

We plan to use a combination of 3D printing technology and construction techniques that utilize local materials to build our Moon Camp.

We will also send robotic missions ahead of the human crew to prepare the site and set up infrastructure.

3.1 – How does your Moon Camp protect and provide shelter to your astronauts against the Moon’s harsh environment.

Our Moon Camp will have multiple layers of protection to shield our astronauts from the harsh lunar environment.

We will use radiation shielding materials, as well as regolith (lunar soil) as insulation.

The habitats will be pressurized and have airlocks to prevent leaks, and we will use thermal control systems to maintain a comfortable temperature.

3.2 – On the Moon, resources are very scarce, but during long Moon missions, astronauts cannot rely on resupply missions from the Earth. Explain how your Moon Camp will provide astronauts with sustainable access to basic needs like water, food, air and power.

To ensure sustainable access to basic needs, we will use a closed-loop system that recycles and conserves resources.

We will collect and purify water from the lunar soil, and use hydroponic systems to grow crops.

We will also generate oxygen from water, and use solar power to generate electricity.

4.1 – What would you include in your astronaut training programme, to help prepare the astronauts for a Moon mission?

Our astronaut training program will include both physical and mental preparation for the challenges of a Moon mission.

We will simulate the lunar environment in our training exercises, and provide extensive training in lunar operations, including EVA (extravehicular activity) and the use of lunar rovers.

We will also emphasize teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills, as well as stress management techniques.
