Moon Camp Explorers 2022 – 2023 Project Gallery

 

In Moon Camp Explorers each team’s mission is to 3D design a complete Moon Camp using Tinkercad. They also have to explain how they will use local resources, protect astronauts from the dangers of space and describe the living and working facilities in their Moon Camp.

1.1 – Project Description

Translation:

This project is based on building a lunar camp where astronauts stay for a long period of time and there developing new infrastructure to overcome major challenges. The moon camp is completely surrounded by two domes. Also the work includes a spaceship, accommodation for the two astronauts, solar panels, recycling system, a food crop, a dome only for a soccer field with stands. It also has, as we have commented before, some domes to protect them from meteorites and radiation.

Este proyecto se basa en construir un campamento lunar donde se alojan unos astronautas durante un periodo largo de tiempo y allí desarrollar nuevas infraestructuras para superar desafíos importantes. El campamento lunar está rodeado completamente por dos cúpulas. También el trabajo incluye una nave espacial, alojamiento para los dos astronautas, paneles solares, sistema de reciclaje, un cultivo de alimentos, una cúpula únicamente para un campo de fútbol con gradas. También cuenta como hemos comentado antes con unas cúpulas para protegerlos de meteoritos y radiación.

1.2 – Why do your astronaut want to go to the Moon and build a Moon Camp?

Translation:

The astronaut wants to go to the moon, since there are many resources there such as solar energy, oxygen and metals. In addition to the fact that he is also going to discover new materials and bring them back to Earth to do experiments with them, etc… Apart from that, they want to live an experience that will surely change their lives or the way they think

El astronauta quiere ir a la luna , ya que allí hay muchos recursoscomo energía solar, oxígeno y metales. Además de que también vapara descubrir nuevos materiales y traerlos de vuelta a la Tierra para hacer experimentos con ellos,etc… Aparte de eso quieren vivir una experiencia que seguro le cambiara la vida o bien la forma de pensar

2.2 How do you plan to build your Moon Camp? Describe how you can use the Moon’s natural resources, and which materials you would need to bring from Earth.

3.1 – How does your Moon Camp protect and provide shelter to your astronauts against the Moon’s harsh environment.

Translation:

Our lunar camp has many elements to protect our astronauts. It contains an anti-meteorite capsule and for high or low temperatures. It also contains a double door in the lunar base in which the astronauts remove their suits and open the second door with oxygen.

Nuestro campamento lunar tiene muchos elementos para proteger a nuestros astronautas. Contiene una cápsula anti meteoritos y para las altas o bajas temperaturas. También contiene en la base lunar una doble puerta en la que los astronautas se quitan los trajes y abren la segunda puerta con oxígeno.

3.2 – On the Moon, resources are very scarce, but during long Moon missions, astronauts cannot rely on resupply missions from the Earth. Explain how your Moon Camp will provide astronauts with sustainable access to basic needs like water, food, air and power.

Regarding resources, this base offers a great variety: food cultivation, water deposits… Regarding energy: we have renewable energy with solar panels.

Respecto a los recursos, esta base ofrece una gran variedad: cultivo de alimentos, depósitos deagua… En cuanto energía: tenemos energía renovable con paneles solares.

4.1 – What would you include in your astronaut training programme, to help prepare the astronauts for a Moon mission?

Translation:

Apart from physical exercises, astronauts also have to take basic science, math and technology courses.
Now yes, speaking of physical exercises, the astronauts receive training in a replica of the space shuttle. Each astronaut also has to learn to function in weightless environments and possibly learn to walk in space, for this they use expensive machinery that also helps decide if they are ready to go into space.

To maintain muscle strength, astronauts perform core-strengthening exercises before, during, and after their missions. Here on Earth, these activities include swimming, running, weight lifting, or floor exercises.

Aparte de ejercicios físicos,los astronautas también tienen que tomar cursos básicos de ciencia, matemáticas y tecnología.
Ahora sí, hablando de ejercicios físicos, los astronautas reciben entrenamiento en una réplica del transbordador espacial. Cada astronauta también tiene que aprender a funcionar en ambientes ingrávidos y posiblemente aprender a caminar en el espacio, para ello utilizan maquinaria cara que también ayuda a decidir si están preparados para ir al espacio.

Para conservar la fuerza de la musculatura, los astronautas practican ejercicios de fortalecimiento del tronco antes, durante y después de sus misiones. Aquí en la Tierra, estas actividades incluyen natación, atletismo, levantamiento de pesas o ejercicios de suelo.
