Moon Camp Explorers 2022 – 2023 Project Gallery

In Moon Camp Explorers each team’s mission is to 3D design a complete Moon Camp using Tinkercad. They also have to explain how they will use local resources, protect astronauts from the dangers of space and describe the living and working facilities in their Moon Camp.

1.1 – Project Description

Translation:

Our camp consists of a lunar terrain on which there is a rocket launch area, domes in which there is a room for both astronauts, another dome where there is something like a lounge and in the last one there is a laboratory, next to the domes there is a garage in which the vehicles are and finally there is a greenhouse.

1.2 – Why do your astronaut want to go to the Moon and build a Moon Camp?

Translation:

Because you want to discover more things about the Moon, for example, you show to see if you can be self-sufficient there without having to ask Earth every so often

Original Text:

2.1.a – Where do you want to build your Moon Camp?

Shackleton crater

2.2.b – Why did you choose this location?

Translation:

Because it is a flat place, so it is easier to build, collect samples, water…

Original Text:

2.2 How do you plan to build your Moon Camp? Describe how you can use the Moon’s natural resources, and which materials you would need to bring from Earth.

Translation:

Usually the most important thing is to bring almost everything in the rocket and some machines to help us build everything. We would do it faster since there is less gravity on the Moon, which means that we carry heavy materials so that the materials do not fly away.

Original Text:

3.1 – How does your Moon Camp protect and provide shelter to your astronauts against the Moon’s harsh environment.

Translation:

The domes will protect us against radiation and will give us a shelter with which to provide us with oxygen. It will give us entertainment, training and in the laboratory we will have things to experiment

Original Text:

3.2 – On the Moon, resources are very scarce, but during long Moon missions, astronauts cannot rely on resupply missions from the Earth. Explain how your Moon Camp will provide astronauts with sustainable access to basic needs like water, food, air and power.

Translation:

We got the water with a machine that would achieve micro-explosions, but just in case we will bring a lot of water from Earth because the rocket is huge. In the same way, during the first months we will surely request things from the Earth. Electricity will not be a problem since the panels and some antennas will help us to have internet and be able to communicate with Earth.

Original Text:

4.1 – What would you include in your astronaut training programme, to help prepare the astronauts for a Moon mission?

Translation:

It would include the following things for the training of astronauts:

That they know how to do tasks like planting a crop, that they know how to build domes, that they have resistance to hunger and thirst, obviously that they are physically prepared, that they know how to fix basic things like the moon car and more difficult things like the rocket in case they breakdown in the middle of space…

Original Text:
