Moon Camp Explorers 2022 – 2023 Project Gallery

 

In Moon Camp Explorers each team’s mission is to 3D design a complete Moon Camp using Tinkercad. They also have to explain how they will use local resources, protect astronauts from the dangers of space and describe the living and working facilities in their Moon Camp.

1.1 – Project Description

Translation:

Our lunar camp is a prototype of a 3D house on the moon that is made up of two floors, on the upper floor is the bathroom, the kitchen, a kind of dressing room where they keep the astronaut suits.

To go down to the lower floor we go down through a staircase or a ramp. On the lower floor we can find an infirmary, the laboratory, the water extractor (a kind of fountains), a food store.

Outside the house we find two roberts (moon cars) inside their respective parking lots, solar panels to collect energy, storage tanks to store water, the greenhouse, three rockets and rooms for the astronauts.

The ground is covered with a special dome to be able to breathe.

Nuestro campamento lunar es un prototipo de una vivienda 3D en la luna que se compone de dos pisos, en el piso superior se encuentra el baño, la cocina, una especie de vestidor donde guardan los trajes de astronautas.

Para bajar al piso inferior bajamos a través de una escalera o una rampa. En el piso inferior podemos encontrar una enfermería, el laboratorio, la extractora de agua (una especie de fuentes), un almacén de comida.

Fuera de la vivienda encontramos dos roberts (coches lunares) dentro de sus respectivos parkings, placas solares para recoger la energía, tanques de almacenamiento para guardar agua, el invernadero, tres cohetes y las habitaciones para los astronautas.

El terreno está cubierto con una cúpula especial para poder respirar.

1.2 – Why do your astronaut want to go to the Moon and build a Moon Camp?

Translation:

Because in the future, the Earth may not be habitable and the moon is the most profitable and close option, so astronauts are experimenting so that humanity can live on the moon in the not too distant future. They will be there for a maximum of five years and they will be studying whether the conditions are suitable for human life.

Porque en el futuro, la Tierra puede ser que no sea habitable y la luna es la opción más rentable y cerca, por eso los astronautas están experimentando para que la humanidad pueda vivir en la luna en un futuro no muy lejano. Van a estar un máximo de cinco años y van a estar estudiando si las condiciones son aptas para la vida humana.

2.2.b – Why did you choose this location?

Translation:

It is more prone to receive hits from asteroids, along with the dome, which is also very resistant, it would perfectly withstand asteroid hits.

Es más propensa a recibir los golpes de los asteroides, junto a la cúpula, que también es muy resistente, aguantaría perfectamente los golpes de los asteroides.

 

2.2 How do you plan to build your Moon Camp? Describe how you can use the Moon’s natural resources, and which materials you would need to bring from Earth.

Translation:

The materials that we would take with us are: food, seeds of different vegetables and fruits, several oxygen tanks for the dome, agricultural tools, astronaut clothing and natural soil to plant the seeds.

First, I would install the soil in the ground, and then I would plant the seeds in the soil.

Next, he would put the oxygen tanks in a row and connect them underground to the dome.

Los materiales que nos llevaríamos son: comida, semillas de diferentes verdura y frutas, varios tanques de oxígeno para la cúpula, herramientas agrícolas, ropa de astronauta y tierra natural para plantar las semillas.

Primero, instalaría la tierra en el suelo y luego plantaría las semillas en la tierra.

Después, pondría los tanques de oxígeno agrupados en una fila y por debajo de la tierra lo conectaría a la cúpula.

3.1 – How does your Moon Camp protect and provide shelter to your astronauts against the Moon’s harsh environment.

Translation:

The dome emits large amounts of oxygen constantly, so you won’t need to wear the suits when you’re inside the dome. Of course, when they go on expeditions they will have to put on the suits, because they will be outside the dome.

Also the dome is very resistant to asteroid hits, so there will be no problem in terms of hits received.

La cúpula emite grandes cantidades de oxígeno constantemente, así que no necesitarán llevar los trajes cuando estén dentro de la cúpula. Eso sí, cuando salgan a hacer expediciones tendrán que ponerse los trajes, porque estarán fuera de la cúpula.

También la cúpula es muy resistente a los golpes de los asteroides, así que no habrá problema en cuanto a los golpes recibidos.

3.2 – On the Moon, resources are very scarce, but during long Moon missions, astronauts cannot rely on resupply missions from the Earth. Explain how your Moon Camp will provide astronauts with sustainable access to basic needs like water, food, air and power.

We will build an internal system so that the water that is on the moon reaches our dome in the form of drinking water, while the air and food I have already raised in section 2.

Construiremos un sistema interno para que el agua que hay en la luna llegue en forma de agua potable a nuestra cúpula, en cuanto el aire y la comida ya lo he planteado en la sección 2.

 

4.1 – What would you include in your astronaut training programme, to help prepare the astronauts for a Moon mission?

Translation:

It seems to me that I would not raise anything since they are the experts, but one thing they could do would be for them to learn how to install objects underground, in order to supply them with water without the need for them to take their own water from the earth, because in At some point that water would run out, the one that is brought from the earth, then they could take water from the earth and also install the underground system of pipes to have drinking water.

Me parece que no plantearía nada ya que ellos son los expertos, pero una cosa que podrían hacer sería que aprendieran a instalar objetos por debajo de la tierra, para poder abastecerlos de agua sin necesidad de que se lleven agua propia de la tierra, porque en algún momento esa agua se acabaría, la que se traen de la tierra, entonces podrían llevarse agua de la tierra y también instalar el sistema subterráneo de tubos para tener agua potable.
