Moon Camp Explorers 2022 – 2023 Project Gallery

In Moon Camp Explorers each team’s mission is to 3D design a complete Moon Camp using Tinkercad. They also have to explain how they will use local resources, protect astronauts from the dangers of space and describe the living and working facilities in their Moon Camp.

1.1 – Project Description

Translation:

In our lunar base we have done what is necessary to be able to live, water supplies, electric currents and crops to be able to eat. Then there are 5 domes, which we will use for research and human needs, such as one for eating, bathroom and bedroom.

Original Text:

1.2 – Why do your astronaut want to go to the Moon and build a Moon Camp?

Translation:

The main idea of going to the moon is to do research, or discovery, be it a new way of life, or rocky systems, like a mountain, a crater, etc… Therefore, they need a shelter to survive, and meet their basic needs.

Original Text:

2.1.a – Where do you want to build your Moon Camp?

Shackleton crater

2.2.b – Why did you choose this location?

Translation:

We have chosen Shackleton crater, since it has sunlight, but also shade, thus making it a very pleasant temperature.

Original Text:

2.2 How do you plan to build your Moon Camp? Describe how you can use the Moon’s natural resources, and which materials you would need to bring from Earth.

Translation:

Builders who have experienced building with 0 gravity would be needed, since it is difficult to build without gravity.

The main material would be plastic, since the domes are made of that material. Plastic doesn’t bulk up very much so with a plastic-only rocket it would do.

Original Text:

3.1 – How does your Moon Camp protect and provide shelter to your astronauts against the Moon’s harsh environment.

Translation:

It mainly has a dome that protects them from the outside and inside there is oxygen. This dome also helps prevent harmful sunburn and the possible impact of meteorites.

Original Text:

3.2 – On the Moon, resources are very scarce, but during long Moon missions, astronauts cannot rely on resupply missions from the Earth. Explain how your Moon Camp will provide astronauts with sustainable access to basic needs like water, food, air and power.

Translation:

We would have an area of crops and trees to clean and recycle the O2, so we would also have an O2 recycler. As for water, there are frozen poles on the moon, we will melt that ice and it supplies us with water for supply and to irrigate crops and trees

Original Text:

4.1 – What would you include in your astronaut training programme, to help prepare the astronauts for a Moon mission?

Translation:

That they hold their breath for a certain time, have a good knowledge of survival, have good experience in remote places, prior contact with zero gravity, ability with new technologies, have technical training, such as electricity

Original Text:
