Moon Camp Explorers 2022 – 2023 Project Gallery

In Moon Camp Explorers each team’s mission is to 3D design a complete Moon Camp using Tinkercad. They also have to explain how they will use local resources, protect astronauts from the dangers of space and describe the living and working facilities in their Moon Camp.

1.1 – Project Description

The base has a main building of 3 floors, one floor is above the surface and is the control center along with the radars and lasers. The other 2 floors are below the surface and there will be the greenhouse, the dining room, the entertainment area, the gym, the doctor’s office and the astronauts’ rooms. There are 3 solar panels, a water tank, an energy storage battery, mini robots to do the tasks and a charging area for the robots.

1.2 – Why do your astronaut want to go to the Moon and build a Moon Camp?

To study the rocks of the moon, the possibility of finding life and being able to inhabit there.

2.1.a – Where do you want to build your Moon Camp?

Near the Moon’s equator

2.2.b – Why did you choose this location?

Because it will get more sunshine and help us with the greenhouses and solar panels

2.2 How do you plan to build your Moon Camp? Describe how you can use the Moon’s natural resources, and which materials you would need to bring from Earth.

The materials we will use to make the base are aluminium and plastic because they are light materials and we can transport the measier

3.1 – How does your Moon Camp protect and provide shelter to your astronauts against the Moon’s harsh environment.

It will be protected with a plastic dome and if damaged, it will be moved to the underground part of the structure. The dome will be made of thick durable plastic which will also provide protection from ultraviolet rays. Also, radars will detect meteors and lasers will be able to destroy them.

3.2 – On the Moon, resources are very scarce, but during long Moon missions, astronauts cannot rely on resupply missions from the Earth. Explain how your Moon Camp will provide astronauts with sustainable access to basic needs like water, food, air and power.

They will carry the first supplies from the land.

Then for the water, there will be tanks with filters. To fill the tanks, small robots will be used that will bring ice and melt it. The water will be filtered, and the tanks will be filled.

For food mini robots will build a greenhouse with potatoes, tomatoes, fruits, vegetables, vines with grapes and superfoods such as blueberries for a healthy diet for the astronauts. which will take meat and eggs.

The plants in the greenhouse will be able to produce oxygen, but the robots will also convert water into oxygen (for air) and hydrogen (for energy). Also, the solar panels will collect the solar energy and store it in the storage battery.

4.1 – What would you include in your astronaut training programme, to help prepare the astronauts for a Moon mission?

The training program will have knowledge of physics, chemistry, engineering, medicine, and rescue knowledge. Work in zero gravity, communication with earth in various foreign languages. Athletic abilities, ability to cultivate in the conditions of the moon and withstand situations of danger.
