Moon Camp Explorers 2022 – 2023 Project Gallery

In Moon Camp Explorers each team’s mission is to 3D design a complete Moon Camp using Tinkercad. They also have to explain how they will use local resources, protect astronauts from the dangers of space and describe the living and working facilities in their Moon Camp.

1.1 – Project Description

The project we are doing is about a lunar camp where we will build a nice place where we can live without worrying about survival and to do a great exploration on the moon. We are going to be making houses capable of withstanding very high and very low temperatures, but that the temperature inside is pleasant. We would also have to design large platforms, where we will place large solar panels capable of obtaining sufficient solar energy, capable of supplying our entire camp with light and electricity.

1.2 – Why do your astronaut want to go to the Moon and build a Moon Camp?

Our astronauts want to go to the moon because they want to find out if there is life or if the moon is capable of being seen, they are both capable of going one way. We have Maricarmen, who has worked for NASA for many years and has done many practical exercises. which are necessary on the moon and on the other hand we have Antonio who has also spent many years working at NASA, he has done many practices like Mari Carmen and he wants to find out if in the future we would be able to do expeditions to the moon and they are going to build a lunar camp because we are going to evaluate the state of the moon and the conditions in which it is located

2.1.a – Where do you want to build your Moon Camp?

Close to the lunar equator

2.2.b – Why did you choose this location?

We have chosen this place because we can have sun and darkness, let’s say that it doesn’t come much better because we would put the solar panels in the part of the sun and the garden in the middle of the lunar equator so that it receives the sun at the same time and to that in another part the sun does not hit him and the rest of the moon camp in the area where the sun does not hit, that is, in the dark area

2.2 How do you plan to build your Moon Camp? Describe how you can use the Moon’s natural resources, and which materials you would need to bring from Earth.

We will build the camp inside using an oval glass dome, and outside we will use large polystyrene sheets with the same shape (oval). In the event that a meteorite approaches or falls near the camp, we will use crystalline but resistant materials so that the damage that this produces is small or in vain. With these materials we would build our entire moon camp.

3.1 – How does your Moon Camp protect and provide shelter to your astronauts against the Moon’s harsh environment.

We are going to place some large tunnels in the camp that connect with different glass domes so that they can facilitate the entry and exit of said domes

3.2 – On the Moon, resources are very scarce, but during long Moon missions, astronauts cannot rely on resupply missions from the Earth. Explain how your Moon Camp will provide astronauts with sustainable access to basic needs like water, food, air and power.

We are going to get the water by means of the extraction since in the lunar land there is lunar ice and thanks to that we will be able to obtain the water, we will obtain the air through the evaporation of the water and of the plants, on the energy, we are going to have Solar panels which will provide us with energy and food will not see any problem because we are going to have an orchard which will provide us with everything we need.

4.1 – What would you include in your astronaut training programme, to help prepare the astronauts for a Moon mission?

Our astronauts must be physically and mentally prepared to travel, they will have to make an exercise plan which they will practice both on earth and on the moon since they can lose muscle, exercising is one of the many other practices of the which the astronauts have to carry out and it is as important as other practices, they should also wear very good equipment since they can see radiation which causes cancer.
