Moon Camp Explorers 2022 – 2023 Project Gallery

In Moon Camp Explorers each team’s mission is to 3D design a complete Moon Camp using Tinkercad. They also have to explain how they will use local resources, protect astronauts from the dangers of space and describe the living and working facilities in their Moon Camp.

1.1 – Project Description

Our Moon Camp is made out of five parts – the warehouse were we keep our food and the greenhouse, the oxygent and electricity room, the garage with our transport (rocket), the laboratory and finaly that ads up as the main building. The moon suface is gray like a naturall moon base would be. The outside of the whole buildig is grau with blue details. The passage were you want to get from one place to another is tunnels with glass and an exit. The four places are with windows and round mini houses were we keep our organized stuff. The roof on tup of the mini houses is a bluo round cap simmilar to mushroom caps. The four buildings are compained and its in a rectangular shape. The result fro the top you can see a rectangle with cornesr were there are the three places were we keep our things to for survival.

1.2 – Why do your astronaut want to go to the Moon and build a Moon Camp?

Since only 12 people have landed on the moon we want our astronauts to be the 13 and 14 people to land on the moon, also they are going to explore the moon surface, find new materials and bring them back to earth to investigate them. Since many meteorites hit the moon there could be some amazing materials from the meteorites ,,leftovers’’. We want to see how people would live on the moon and how their body reacts to a different environment.

2.1.a – Where do you want to build your Moon Camp?

On the far side of the Moon

2.2.b – Why did you choose this location?

We chose our astroauts to live on the far side of the moon ,because  there are more things to explore and investigate, even though it is going to be cold there our astrounats are fully traned and prepared for the cold, our buildings are also ,,cold’’ protected. On the far side of the moon there are many different materials not like on other places of the moon.

2.2 How do you plan to build your Moon Camp? Describe how you can use the Moon’s natural resources, and which materials you would need to bring from Earth.

We planned to get electricity from a machine that collets sunlight and it turns the sunlight into electricity in three hours. This machine is built on the ground where is the nearest to the sun and were it most absorbs light. The soil for the greenhouse is going to be our waste (organic waste) we will use as soil to grow plants like vegetables and fruits. The oxygen, we brought oxygen cans that are enough for five years, and we did the same with water.

3.1 – How does your Moon Camp protect and provide shelter to your astronauts against the Moon’s harsh environment.

Our camp provides oxygen, water and electricity all the things that humans need. That will be comfortable for astronauts who arrives to our camp and experience this wonderful living on the moon. Our touronaut’s will have masks that can save them from radiation, also they have medicine if they inhale radiation. Our astronauts won’t be scared of meteorites because the meteorite protection we have is the best one possible. From extreme temperature we have termosuits that will keep people warm all day.

3.2 – On the Moon, resources are very scarce, but during long Moon missions, astronauts cannot rely on resupply missions from the Earth. Explain how your Moon Camp will provide astronauts with sustainable access to basic needs like water, food, air and power.

Our astronauts have a storage building where all of the food is kept. The food our astronauts eat have a lot of protein which keeps them full for almost for 5 hours. They get electricity from the sun collector; the robot collects the sunlight and turns it into electricity. This machine has to be on the side where the sun is shining almost all the time so that means that it is a little bit further away from our camp. Our astronauts have oxygen bags on their back. Behind our buildings there are little boxes which contains oxygen. Our astronauts have to refill them every 7-8 hours. Food is mostly grown by our own astronauts, but also, they have other food that is kept in the warehouse. The warehouse has two floors, on the first one there are just food in the cans and food that does not need to refrigerate, the second floor is only for food that needs to be frozen or kept in the freezer.

4.1 – What would you include in your astronaut training programme, to help prepare the astronauts for a Moon mission?

We would maybe say to prepare warmer clothes, train hoe to work in the garden. How to plant seed for vegetables and fruits to grow.  Also train to work with electricity, water and oxygen. How to use them properly for them to not go to waste. Teach how to use the Labatory. Describe the rules so everything goes well and by the requirements. How and what to investigate all the things we need. Also provide food or prepare for eating. Keep notice on the garage where are all the transport.
