Moon Camp Explorers 2022 – 2023 Project Gallery

In Moon Camp Explorers each team’s mission is to 3D design a complete Moon Camp using Tinkercad. They also have to explain how they will use local resources, protect astronauts from the dangers of space and describe the living and working facilities in their Moon Camp.

1.1 – Project Description

My group and I have decided to do this project because we found it very interesting and it is a fun way to learn, we also wanted to see what ways there were to travel to the moon and learn more about it. The main thing in our project is the rocket, it is the most important thing. We have made a robot factory, in case one of the robots we have made breaks down, it can be “cured”. We have also made a kind of space house for the astronaut to live there. We have made some solar panels since we find it very interesting and a way to contribute to the environment. We have made a garden for the robots to work there so that the astronaut can eat vegetables there in space.

1.2 – Why do your astronaut want to go to the Moon and build a Moon Camp?

Our team of astronauts wants to go to the moon to get to know our satellite and have more information about the universe. Also to know another way of life on the moon, to which we are not used and to enjoy the wonders that space has and we do not know. Our team of astronauts has decided to go to the moon to explore possible new living things and see if we could feed ourselves by creating a greenhouse and growing plants to eat as our ancestors did in the earth. We want to build a moon camp to cover all the needs that we may have there and to be able to spend more days exploring the moon with some robots that help us to do everything necessary to survive.

2.1.a – Where do you want to build your Moon Camp?

Close to the lunar equator

2.2.b – Why did you choose this location?

Because in the lunar equator the temperature will be better, because the sun rays affect sheer to the moon, excepts when the Earth cover the Moon.

2.2 How do you plan to build your Moon Camp? Describe how you can use the Moon’s natural resources, and which materials you would need to bring from Earth.

Earth: Water, oxygen production plant, straw and seeds

Moon: Land

We will make some structures with water, straw and land from the Moon. The electricity we will obtain from our solar panels that absorb Sun rays.

3.1 – How does your Moon Camp protect and provide shelter to your astronauts against the Moon’s harsh environment.

Our Moon Camp is prepared for our astronauts to survive the moon for a long time. The astronauts’ suit provides a backpack with lots of oxygen and the suit is made with special materials that make astronauts comfortable. Both the pickup with the capsule astronauts sleep in have all kinds of elements to provide comfort to the astronaut. In addition to robots being prepared to help the astronaut if he is in danger. There are also cameras to control from the ground if astronauts are in danger.

3.2 – On the Moon, resources are very scarce, but during long Moon missions, astronauts cannot rely on resupply missions from the Earth. Explain how your Moon Camp will provide astronauts with sustainable access to basic needs like water, food, air and power.

In our camp we have an orchard that would provide us with food and with the help of the robots, what do we have? Thanks to our robot factory, we maintain the orchard perfectly. The orchard also has an air bubble that keeps the plants and crops alive in its interior. The robots transform the air and certain moonstones into drinking water due to a filter inside them.

4.1 – What would you include in your astronaut training programme, to help prepare the astronauts for a Moon mission?

It would include some very tough physical tests since they have to be prepared for everything that happens on the moon, it would also include an endurance test, finally it would include an exam to evaluate their capacity since it is not known what you may need up there.
