Moon Camp Explorers 2022 – 2023 Project Gallery

In Moon Camp Explorers each team’s mission is to 3D design a complete Moon Camp using Tinkercad. They also have to explain how they will use local resources, protect astronauts from the dangers of space and describe the living and working facilities in their Moon Camp.

1.1 – Project Description

Our project is to build a Moon Base. In the center of the moon base there is a common room, we can eat, speak with the other astronauts, … There are two bedrooms and one bathroom for the comfort of astronauts.  We have built a Lunar Scientific Base that is well-equipped and pleasant to live in.

1.2 – Why do your astronaut want to go to the Moon and build a Moon Camp?

My astronauts want to live on the Moon because we built a research lab so that they can do experiments. Our research lab is equipped to make incredible research: our moon base could become an international scientific station. For us it is very important to start new research to evolve as a species and it is life insurance for our future survival. Finally, it will allow us to go to Mars as a more important scientific interest,  as we will be able to colonize another planet.

2.1.a – Where do you want to build your Moon Camp?

Close to the lunar poles

2.2.b – Why did you choose this location?

Because we could harvest the ice from the Moon’s glaciers in the South Pole to produce drinkable water and water the plants.

2.2 How do you plan to build your Moon Camp? Describe how you can use the Moon’s natural resources, and which materials you would need to bring from Earth.

We will use materials like carbon, plastic from the Earth and the same aluminium alloys which is used to build rockets because this material is resistant to the Moon’s temperatures.

3.1 – How does your Moon Camp protect and provide shelter to your astronauts against the Moon’s harsh environment.

Our components will protect and provide shelter for our astronauts thanks to the plastic and the aluminium alloy which are strong and resistant.

3.2 – On the Moon, resources are very scarce, but during long Moon missions, astronauts cannot rely on resupply missions from the Earth. Explain how your Moon Camp will provide astronauts with sustainable access to basic needs like water, food, air and power.

A greenhouse has been built to grow trees, fruit and vegetables and to convert CO² into O². Water in the form of lunar ice can be harvested in the South Pole so that the astronauts can drink and water the plants.

4.1 – What would you include in your astronaut training programme, to help prepare the astronauts for a Moon mission?

The astronauts will have scientific training to do research on the Moon and prepare our settlement on Mars.
