Moon Camp Explorers 2022 – 2023 Project Gallery

In Moon Camp Explorers each team’s mission is to 3D design a complete Moon Camp using Tinkercad. They also have to explain how they will use local resources, protect astronauts from the dangers of space and describe the living and working facilities in their Moon Camp.

1.1 – Project Description

Translation:

Our project is called MGFDD Mooncamp. We are students at Externato Marcelino Champagnat in Lisbon, Portugal.

O nosso projeto chama-se MGFDD Mooncamp. Somos alunos do Externato Marcelino Champagnat em Lisboa, Portugal.

1.2 – Why do your astronaut want to go to the Moon and build a Moon Camp?

Translation:

We will stay at the lunar poles, as they contain solid water and are not hit by many meteorites. We will have a house in which the bedrooms and the laboratory are in the basement, while the bathroom and the dining room are on the ground floor. Outside we will have the rocket, the greenhouse and the laser tower to communicate with Earth. we will build the house with moonstones and protect ourselves with polyethylene.

Original text:

2.1.a – Where do you want to build your Moon Camp?

Close to the lunar poles

2.2.b – Why did you choose this location?

Translation:

We plan to build our colony on the moon’s surface, but the lab and rooms will be underground.

Original Text:

2.2 How do you plan to build your Moon Camp? Describe how you can use the Moon’s natural resources, and which materials you would need to bring from Earth.

Translation:

A part of the water will be taken from Earth, but we will also have a machine that will melt the lunar ice so that it can be consumed.

Original Text:

3.1 – How does your Moon Camp protect and provide shelter to your astronauts against the Moon’s harsh environment.

Translation:

Protection: We will use polyethylene around the moon to protect us from solar radiation and meteorites.

Original Text:

3.2 – On the Moon, resources are very scarce, but during long Moon missions, astronauts cannot rely on resupply missions from the Earth. Explain how your Moon Camp will provide astronauts with sustainable access to basic needs like water, food, air and power.

Translation:

Food: At first we will take food from Earth but then we will produce our greenhouse with seeds that develop quickly.

Energy: We will have energy from solar panels that absorb energy from the sun.

Air: We wear space suits, we bring bottles of oxygen and we will plant plants to provide us with oxygen (such as algae)

Original Text:
