Moon Camp Explorers 2022 – 2023 Project Gallery

 

In Moon Camp Explorers each team’s mission is to 3D design a complete Moon Camp using Tinkercad. They also have to explain how they will use local resources, protect astronauts from the dangers of space and describe the living and working facilities in their Moon Camp.

1.1 – Project Description

We participate in the activities of the “STEM 3D makers” group.
Together with the professor, we decided to build our base on the moon.
We first chose the location, then we discussed what astronauts need for life and communication, and finally we added some additional content.
We are planning to use a 3D printer to print a part of our base

 

1.2 – Why do your astronaut want to go to the Moon and build a Moon Camp?

The first step in the exploration of Mars, the asteroid belt and other planets will be the establishment of a base on the Moon – permanent human habitation. Additionally, we want to explore the Moon, and the possibility of life on it.

2.1.a – Where do you want to build your Moon Camp?

Close to the lunar equator

2.2.b – Why did you choose this location?

We want to be as close to the planet as possible

2.2 How do you plan to build your Moon Camp? Describe how you can use the Moon’s natural resources, and which materials you would need to bring from Earth.

One part, the initial modules, would be brought from Earth, and the rest would be printed using the lunar soil

3.1 – How does your Moon Camp protect and provide shelter to your astronauts against the Moon’s harsh environment.

Our base would have a movable protective dome, and the astronauts would live underground

3.2 – On the Moon, resources are very scarce, but during long Moon missions, astronauts cannot rely on resupply missions from the Earth. Explain how your Moon Camp will provide astronauts with sustainable access to basic needs like water, food, air and power.

We would filter water and air from the lunar soil, and we would produce our own food through the aquaphonic system.

We would use solar collectors as an energy source

4.1 – What would you include in your astronaut training programme, to help prepare the astronauts for a Moon mission?

In addition to the standard preparations that all astronauts go through – such as various exercises, we would especially devote ourselves to psychological preparation for such a remote and lonely life.
